The Truth

It was two weeks before the end of term. Ravenclaw squashed Hufflepuff in the mud with their match. We still had a chance at winning the Quidditch Cup! Speaking of mud, rain and mud was replaced outside by snow. Have I ever told you how much I loved the snow? Its gorgeous! Each snowflake a different design, and it means that Christmas is just around the corner.

I sat with Lee, Fred and George at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall. They were talking about Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, yes, Lee knows about it too. I listened closely as they talked about their future candy. They were really going to do it. At that moment, Errol, the Weasley's owl, landed beside me with a letter tied to its leg. I don't normally get letters.

"Um, boys? I think this letter is for you." I slid the bird across the table.

George untied the letter and shook his head once he inspected the handwriting on the envelope. "This isn't over." He held the letter out to me.

I took it, and saw my name scribbled in my mothers neat handwriting. Why would Mrs. Weasley have this? I popped open the wax seal with a furrowed brow.

Puppy,

You will be spending Christmas this year with the Weasley's.

Your aunt Korie is really sick, and I'm going to help take care of her. (The Muggle Way.)

I'm sorry I won't be able to spend time with you this Christmas, but I will make it up to you when you come home for Summer.

I already asked Molly, and she is more than welcomed to have you.

I hope you are doing well at school.

I love you lots.

- Mom

I looked up to the twins with a smile on my face. "Looks like you're not getting rid of me for Christmas boys!"

"That's scary." Lee cringed. "I feel bad for you two." He patted the boys on the back.

"Oh, shut it, Lee." I threw a piece of toast at him.

"How come you're not going home?" Fred asked, concerned.

"My aunt Korie is sick. Mom is going to help take care of her."

"Why don't she take a potion?" Lee questioned.

"She's a Muggle. She accepts that my mom and I are witches, but..." I sighed. "She still gets kinda freaked out by all this." I motioned to the castle.

"I take that as a good sign!" George perked up. "You can help us give Percy a hard time."

"What about me?" speak of the devil and he shall appear.

I faked a smile. "Nothing. I was just saying that you're an amazing Head Boy."

He puffed his chest out proud. "Thank you, Fae. You're a good Prefect." He walked off and followed the other student's to Hogsmeade.

"I'm offended!" I exclaimed. "I say that he's an amazing Head Boy and a get 'good'? Which, by the way." I pointed a finger at the two gingers in front of me. "You two owe me a butterbeer since I said that."

The three of us stood up to leave. Lee stayed sitting in his seat.

"Aren't you coming, Lee?" I tilted my head.

"No, not today. I threw a snowball the other day, and it hit Snape in the back of the head. So, I can't go to Hogsmeade today."

"Oh, well, do you want us to bring you back anything?"
