Pranks

I don't think I have ever slept this good in years, but dang, Angelina snores really loud! My eyes shot open. Angelina snores, but she's across the room from me. I looked up to the curtains drawn all around the bed. I never close my curtains. I forgot that I stayed in the boys room last night. Fred tightened his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to his chest. At least he wasn't the one snoring. Must be one of the other roommates. I gently pried his arm off of me, and pulled the curtains back to step out.

"Hello there."

I jumped and turned to the voice of George, leaning against the bathroom door as he brushed his teeth. "Uh, hi, Georgie!"

He motioned with his toothbrush. "What, uh, whatcha doin?" he wiggled his eyebrows.

My face burned red. "Not that. Definitely not that."

"Mmm. Good morning." Fred greeted in his morning voice. He stretched his arms above his head, letting out a grunt. He sat up and looked between George and I. "What did I miss?"

"Noth—"

"Why was Fae in your bed?" George cut me off. "You two looked rather cozy together."

"Her roommates were pissing her off. I let her stay here."

"Okay, well, I'm going to get dressed for the day. See you both at breakfast." I ran out the door. That was embarrassing. I opened the door to my room. Angelina and Alicia both glared at me. Oh, goodie. "Girls, I know that I'm gorgeous. But you should take a picture if you want to keep staring. It'll last longer, or wait, pictures won't do it justice so just stare away." I smirked and grabbed my robes before retreating into the bathroom to get ready.

It was later that night. George would not stop teasing Fred and I all day.

"Fae, why are you still in your robes?" George asked when I walked down the girls staircase.

"I have to patrol the hallways tonight with Cedric." I answered.

"Oh." Fred seemed very interested. "W-where are you patrolling?"

What? I looked at him like he was crazy. "The whole school?"

Thanks to their stupid twin telepathy, George caught on. "How long are you going to be out?"

"Until midnight. What has gotten into you two? I'll see you both when I get back." I climbed through the hole, and Cedric was already there. "Evening, Cedri-" I tripped on my feet, and landed face first out of the hole.

"That looked like it hurt." commented the Fat Lady.

"Yeah, no kidding." I took Cedric's out stretched hand, and he helped me to my feet.

"Are you okay, Fae?" he was genuinely concerned. Besides from the twins, he's my best friend, but he'll never replace them.

I rubbed my sore nose. "Yeah, I'm okay. Shall we get started?"

"You lead the way."

We walked around almost the whole school, talking about everything under the sun, or moon. We walked along through the dungeons. It was a bad idea to leave this last part of the castle last. It was so cold I could almost see my breath.

"So, what did you choose to be when you leave Hogwarts?" Cedric asked.

"I want to be a healer."

"Really? You being a healer? I don't see it. But, being friends with the Twins, I can see how that's very dangerous."

I playfully bumped him with my shoulder. "They're not so bad. They're—" I was cut off by a sound from around the corner. I gave him a confused look with Cedric. I lowered my voice. "Was that Peeves?"

We turned the corner, and our eyes met with the twins in front of the Slytherin common room. They were so busy doing whatever that they didn't realize we were there, let alone the sound of my heels.

I crossed my arms over my chest. "What are you two doing?"

They both jumped and turned around. Smiles appeared on their faces when they saw who caught them.

"Just in time!" Fred said.

"Yeah, we just got done with our prank!" George cheesed.

I looked to the ground and saw what looked like a trip wire lined up in front of the Slytherin common room. I followed the wire and spotted a giant bucket full of water suspended by magic.

I sighed. "Boys..."

"I think I'm going to leave this to you." Cedric started to step back.

"Okay, I'll see you, Cedric." He left us. "Ugh!" I stomped over to them. "I'll let you go this time." I pushed George towards the exit of the dungeons. I grasped hold of Fred. "But next time I—"

"I hear you." Filch's voice sounded from either way down the hall. I hate the echoes!

"Run!" I whispered to the boys. I pulled Fred along with me one way, while George went the other way.

"In here." Fred said as he pulled me into a small broom cupboard.

We were chest to chest with one another, and I was for sure he could hear my heart almost beat out of my chest. I listened intently for Filch to walk past any second. I peered up and saw Fred looking down at me with his brown, hypnotizing eyes. My mind got lost in them. He reached up and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. A shiver ran down my spine at the small contact. I never realized how cute he was. I bit my bottom lip. I can't be having feelings like this for my best friend.

The door whipped open. "There you are." Filch grinned. "Oh, dear, you are in trouble."

"Mr. Filch, I can explain." I said, stepping out of the room.

"I knew Dumbledore picked the wrong Gryffindor as a Prefect.

"Mr. Filch, would you please listen to her?" Fred tried to help.

"No, I am going to speak with your head of house." He grinned wickedly. "I'll see you both in detention. Now, get to bed!"

"But—"

I cut Fred off. "Yes, sir." I interlaced our fingers and I pulled him along with me down the hallway.

"What are you doing?"

"I thought you would have learned that it's no use in arguing with Filch. I'll speak with Professor McGonagall tomorrow, and tell her everything. Let's just get to bed."
