Don't Talk to Me

My mind was going a thousand miles a minute as I walked back to the school. I tugged Fred's jacket closer around me. I felt bad that he has nothing to wear. I just can't look at the leather jacket, let alone wear it.

"Miss Williams!" came Professor McGonagall's voice from behind me.

I stopped in my tracks and turned to her.

"Miss Williams." Her voice was gentle. "I'm so sorry you had to hear that. If I had known—"

"But you didn't. maybe you should have checked who's around you better before you start gossiping." Professor McGonagall was shocked by the tone of my voice. I sighed and rubbed the bridge of my nose. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't get mad at you. It's my mom that I should be angry with."

"It's quiet alright, dear. But I think you should go see Professor Dumbledore. I believe he would like to speak with you."

I rubbed my hands on my pants. Great. "I'll go there straight away."

"Jelly Slugs', dear."

"Come on, boys." I turned to continue on my trek.

"Oh, I would suggest you going alone, Fae."

I chewed my bottom lip. "Okay. I guess I'll see you two back in the common room."

I walked through the door of Dumbledore's office. He was there, naturally, sitting behind his desk.

"You wish to see me Professor?"

"Ah, Miss Williams. Thank you for coming on such short notice." He stood from his desk, and walked around to the front. "I heard that you found something out while in the Three Broomsticks."

I nodded my head. "It wasn't really a quiet conversation, sir."

"I'm sorry you had to find out that way."

I shuffled on my feet uncomfortably. "I don't think my mother planned on ever letting me find out."

"About that..."

At that time, green flames erupted from the office fireplace. The last person I wanted to see stepped out, dusting soot from her clothes. I looked anywhere but at her, pretending to be fascinated with the things upon Professor Dumbledore's shelves.

"Fae, I came straight away when I got Dumbledore's letter." My mother took a step towards me.

I held me hands out to stop her. I looked back to the Professor. "Why is she here?"

"I invited her." He said quite simply. "I figured the two of you could talk about what you heard today."

"No!" I saw my mother jump out of the corner of my eye. "I don't want to talk to her. She lied!"

"It was to protect you."

I huffed out a laugh. "I'm leaving." I walked through Dumbledore's door, and ran down the stairs, taking two steps at a time. I reached the hallway when I heard her voice.

"Puppy—"

"No!" I whipped around, my hair swinging behind me. "Don't you dare Puppy me. You lied to me for years!"

"It was to protect you."

"How? How was keeping a secret protecting me? Were you going to tell me?"

"I was planning on it."

"When? When I had kids? While you were on your deathbed? When, mom?" I waited for her answer, but it never came. "I knew it. You never planned on telling me. Maybe finding out from my teachers was the best thing for me."

Tears threatened to spill from her eyes. "I'm so sorry, baby."

"This is what you didn't tell me when we were in our room at the Leaky Cauldron. Why couldn't you have just told me then?"

"I didn't think it was the right time. You were about to head off to school, and I didn't want that information to fog up your brain."

"And you took my memories of him? What, did you think that I would join the Dark side just like him?"

"Of course not."

"Then why! I grew up for 16 years, thinking that my dad didn't love me, that he was just a one night stand. Hell, you didn't even let me now he was a Wizard!"

"And I was wrong, I know that." She reached out for me, and I took a step back.

"No. I don't want you anywhere near me, right now. Just tell me, did he actually love me?"

"So much." She bit her lip and pulled out her wand. "Do you want me to restore your memories?"

I scoffed. "The time for that passed 12 years ago." I turned to walk off.

"Fae, even though you know the truth, don't go looking for your father."

"Wasn't planning on it. I'll see you when I come home for the summer. Until then, goodbye." I tuned the corner, and my eyes met with the twins. They just heard everything.

Fred cleared his throat. "We were waiting for you to get out of Dumbledore's office when we heard everything."

George scratched the back of his neck. "Maybe you should give your mom some slack. She was only trying to protect you."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Give her some slack? George, how would you feel if your mother lied to you your whole life? You would be acting the same exact way that I am." I stomped past them, and made my way to the common room. I climbed through the portrait hole.

"Fae."

I turned to the voice, and I quickly looked away when I saw it was Harry. "I can't talk to you right now, I'm sorry." I started to climb the stairs for the girls dormitory.

He grabbed ahold of my hand, forcing me to look at him. "I have to tell you something. It's about your dad."

My voice shook. "I already know. And, Harry, I am so very sorry for what he did to your parents."

"I don't blame you, Fae. I just want you to know that I don't think of you any different."

I slightly smiled. "Tell the boys where I am when they come in." I finished walking up the stairs and entered my room. I kicked my boots off, and pulled the covers over my legs. I pulled Fred's jacket tighter around me. Can I go back in time and forget this all ever happened?
