(a/n: the chongyun hangout quest has filled my heart ☺️)

Chongyun's POV

"Chongyun! Assist these people, please." Another employee asked.

"But it's your job to do it." I sighed.

"Please? I need to use the bathroom."

I don't want to be mean so I nod.

"Thanks so much!"

"Sure, Fischl." I said, opening the drive thru window.

"Hello." I said as they handed me the money. I placed it in the cash register and handed their food.

"Thanks." They said and then drove off.

When it was break time for me, I went to the break room to eat.

I started to doze off mid-eating my sandwich when someone came in and cleaned their throat.

Albedo.

"Oh, hey there." I yawn.

"You up late?" He asked, sitting down.

I nod. "Yeah, and my friends and I went to the beach yesterday. I'm completely wiped out."

"You could've called in. They would've got someone else to take your place I'm sure." He said, opening his lunch box.

"Nah, I need the spare money. Can't be broke all summer." I smiled tiredly.

"Me too. I'd like to make as much money as I can before school starts again." He said, taking a bite of his food.

"Oh yeah, school." I groan.

"Mhm. Ends for me soon, too." He sighs.

I flop my head down on the table. When will my shift end?

Xingqiu's POV

I've been best friends with Chongyun and (Y/n) for what it feels like forever. We grew up in elementary together but became really close in middle school. Every break at school we had we'd spend it laughing our asses off in the library or being scolded by teachers for being too loud in class. I always felt guilty for disturbing the staff, but in the end, all the memories were worth it. The librarian is too nice, although she scolds us, she never kicks us out. She just gives us warnings.

By 8th grade, I've been noticing signs nervousness between Chongyun and (Y/n). That's when I knew, that there's some sort of feelings between the two stronger than friendship. Over the past few years, they seemed to be comfortable with it. I for one, have kept my mouth shut the whole time. Watching them interact is like a cliché teen romance movie. I try to give them little pushes here and there, but both of them can't seem to let one know how they feel. It's killing me.

But, as my job as the third wheel, I must be patient and help both of them without spilling the beans. They could make me boiling mad, but I would never backstab them. They have to figure out when to tell each other their feelings themselves.

I open the freezer and grab two freezies. I hiss as the cold plastic freezes my hands. After grabbing two pieces of paper towel, I walk back to my room while wrapping the paper towel around the chilly snacks.

"Here we go~" I chimed, handing (Y/n) their freezie.

They sit up from a laying position and place their phone down, reaching for their freezie. "Thank you."

I hum and sit down on my desk chair.

"Do you have any other things to do besides read books?" (Y/n) smirks.
