𝐒𝐀𝐘 "𝐈 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔" | 𝐘𝐔 𝐍. 𝐗 𝐅𝐄𝐌 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑

6 ⇢ 𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗢𝗨𝗦 (𝗟/𝗡), 𝗚𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗟𝗬 𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗞𝗔, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣𝗙𝗨𝗟 𝗡𝗢𝗬𝗔 ッ

Nishinoya and (l/n) were on their journey to the aquatic center. The walk was around 10 minutes away, depending on how long it took (l/n) to walk. "Wait (y/n), where's Kairi?" Kairi was Chuuya's older sister, third year in grade school. She was like a mini version of (l/n). Except, she was more reserved and introverted. "Kairi? Oh, she's with her mom. I think they went to the library because she had a project for class." Nishinoya just mouthed an 'Oh' and the two of them continued on walking.

"What if something happens during practice?" Nishinoya asked. "What do you mean?" (l/n) asks back.

"Well, isn't Kanemoto going to the try outs too? Wouldn't he get jealous or something? Since he probably likes you."

"Oh yea he doe-"

"WHAT? HE DOES? AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?"

"I thought you knew? Legit, the reason why you brought him up right? Even if he does get jealous, then I'd rather let him see me with you. Let the bitch be jealous!" (l/n) said with lots of energy in her voice. She was the type of person to speak whatever was on her mind without thinking. However, that energy went away a few minutes later.

Nishinoya just chuckled and put an arm around her. As they approached the aquatic center, Tanaka was walking towards them. "Yo Ryu!" Nishinoya exclaimed. (l/n) just waved at him. "You alright (y/n)? You seem a little quiet." Tanaka asked.

"Hm? Oh yea, I'm okay" she said, avoiding eye contact. "(y/n)? Dry? We don't know her," Tanaka said trying to cheer her up. Both Nishinoya and Tanaka knew she was nervous. She wasn't as energetic and jumpy. So, being the best friend Nishinoya was, he gave her a pep talk.

"(y/n), don't be nervous dumbass. You got this in the bag man! Look, you probably think you're gonna fuck up, but we think you're gonna make it on the team! Right, Ryu?" Tanaka nodded and gave her a head pat. "Look, Chibi, be the bad bitch you are and beat their asses." Nishinoya's sentence made her look up and burst out laughing.

"THAT'S MY LINE DUMBASS," she exclaimed. Nishinoya's reassuring words made her feel comforted. However, after hearing those words, she saw Kanemoto across the street, and suddenly remembered a memory from training camp.

[FLASHBACK]

(l/n) and Kanemoto were in line for the timed freestyle races. Kanemoto's specialty was the butterfly stroke but he wanted to give freestyle a try. "Do you think you'll make the fastest time?" he asked her. "I don't really care about my times." she replied in a drowsy tone.

"(y/n), you're doing the thing again." he replied.

"What thing?"

"The thing where you answer questions without enthusiasm when you're nervous."

She was about to speak and defend herself, but she couldn't think of anything. "It's ok though because I believe in you, and I love you, (y/n)" He said the last part in a joking/sarcastic tone, hinting he liked her. After hearing what he said, she didn't respond.

Instead, she was thinking about the night she told Nishinoya she loved him. And how she didn't understand what the meaning of a temporary break was. The same night she realized Nishinoya probably lost interest in her. She didn't really know how to express her feelings to others, except to Nishinoya.

She was okay during the break. She never really did the overthinking. She wasn't really the type to worry too much about a relationship. However, this was sort of different.

END OF FLASHBACK

(l/n) stood still for a few seconds while Nishinoya and Tanaka were standing in front of her. "Woah, I just got lightheaded for a second." she said to break the comfortable silence. "Hey, are you sure you're able to swim?" Tanaka asked. Nishinoya put both of his hands on her cheeks, and gently lifted her head up.

"Look, Chibi, if you aren't feeling well, I can tell the coaches to make a day where you can make up for today's try outs." She looked behind Nishinoya and saw Kanemoto glance over at them. "Yu, don't worry too much about me. It's your try outs too, not just mine. Plus, I'm feeling great after what you said"

Tanaka looked at her, concerned. He turned around and saw Kanemoto entering the aquatic center. 'Was it because of him?' was what he thought in his mind. The three of them walked inside. (l/n) acted like nothing happened. She said she was okay and that she was probably hungry. "If you guys need anything, I'll be sitting at the bench" Tanaka said walking away.

Nishinoya was waiting for (l/n), pacing in front of the girls' lockers, until Kanemoto walked up to him. "Yo, Kanemoto!" he greeted him. "Don't act like we're friends. I'm just here to wait for (y/n)." Nishinoya gave Kanemoto a look. (l/n) walked out of the locker room and saw Kanemoto. "Oh, hi" she said with a wave. She took Nishinoya's hand and walked over to the instructor. Sorta furious since she didn't really want to deal with him before try outs started.

They were handed a paper where they needed to write down their names, address, and parents phone number/email to ensure they were the students who signed up for the school's swim club. Nishinoya and (l/n) were sitting on a bench not too far away from Tanaka. "Yu" (l/n) said, her face turning red. "Yea, what's up?" He turned to look at her. "Woah, your cheeks are so pink! It's cute"

She looked down. "Yu, since when did you have-" Nishinoya tilted his head a bit. "Have what?" he looked down at what she was looking at. He was shirtless and (l/n) was flustered. "(y/n) you perv! Stop looking at my collar bones"

"Well then why is it there? It's so sharp" (l/n) said for everyone to hear. "(y/n) people are looking at you bro." "Huh? Bro I still need to finish signing the form." As the two of them were on the bench filling out the paper, Tanaka was on his phone texting Shimizu, updating her on what's happening between the two.

Conversation continued on

Nishinoya looked to see where Tanaka was and saw how he was giggling on his phone. "I wonder what Ryu's looking at." (l/n) looked over his direction. "He's probably texting Kiyo? If he is then I'm honestly surprised their conversation is long"

As the two of them we talking about how giggly Tanaka was, the coach blew the whistle indicating try outs were about to begin.
