August 18th

Nishinoya and (l/n) were two second years at Karasuno High School. After a month of summer break, they were able to reunite with the people they haven't seen for a short while. (l/n) was back from her one week training camp. She was a dedicated swimmer and she never let anything stop her from doing what she wanted to do. Her and Shimizu were both walking to school. Shimizu is her best friend who was a third year. She was one of the team's manager in their school's volleyball club. They would always converse to each other about the volleyball club and how (l/n)'s swim meets went.

However, after a small incident during the summer, they can't talk about the volleyball team the same way as before...

June 18th

Today marks the day of Nishinoya and (l/n)'s one year anniversary of dating. They've been best friends for around 11 years. (l/n) asked Nishinoya if he was able to come over to her house so they could spend quality time with each other. After a few hours, (l/n) told Nishinoya to check what she posted on social media. While they sat on her bed, he pulled out his phone and checked her profile.

She posted a few pictures of the two of them with a caption that read, "happy 1 year anniversary dumbass 🥶 i know i'm not the type of person to do this type of lovey dovey shit, but i guess today's a special day? anyways, i love you :>" Yea, it was probably really cheesy, but still, it was something really wholesome. Especially when it's coming from (l/n). She's the type of person to call you names and make fun of you as a way of showing affection.

Nishinoya just sat there in shock. "I do Yu, I actually love you." He was speechless and didn't really have anything to say other than 'Oh'.

"Oh?"

"Yea uhm, you know how you're going to that training camp in Tottori for like, a week? Well, I kind of feel like we need to take a break. You know? This is a lot to take in and I can't really process my thoughts right now. And my mom hasn't come home from Tokyo since last month. It's kinda messy."

(l/n) just sat there. Head slanted with a dumbfounded look on her face. "I mean, sure? Up to you though. I don't really wanna put any pressure on you or anything if you aren't ready." She said that with a warm smile. The type of smile that made you feel a little bad. Nishinoya got up, hugged her, and walked towards the door. "Well, I guess I'll just see you at school?" he said with nervousness in his voice. She nodded as a way of responding as she watched him exit her room.

'Wait what did he say? Break? What does that even mean,' she thought in her mind. She went on her phone and texted Shimizu. Shimizu was always the first person she went to when she needed help or advice.

Today 8:54 p.m

WHAT DOES BREAK MEAN?

(l/n) and Shimizu were walking towards the front of the school. Before entering, Nishinoya and Tanaka came running behind them. "Chibi! I missed you," Nishinoya yelled as he ran up to (l/n) with his arms open to hug her. Tanaka got slapped in the face by Shimizu and (l/n) just smirked at her. "Kiyo, no need to hide the fact you-" Shimizu put a hand over (l/n)'s mouth to prevent her from saying anything. "(y/n), there's no need to hide the fact that you didn't know the meaning of a break." Shimizu said as a joke but soon paused.

(l/n) froze in the arms of Shimizu. She made eye contact with Nishinoya and remembered something. She caught feelings for someone at training camp and he goes to Karasuno High.

a/n : YO, so like i was rereading my fan fiction and noticed how i didn't like it and how nothing made sense. so i just ended up rewriting the whole thing :> n e wayz this is gonna be sorta messy since i'm still thinking of ways to change to whole thing and to make it seem more like, eventful? idrk bro... but yea
