"Leo!" I shout when Jason and I step off the elevator. I see Leo, Percy, and Annabeth talking to a tall, blonde girl who leaves when we approach the group. "What's going on?" Jason asks. "Our parents are forcing us to slaughter each other." Leo replies. Usually I'd laugh, or raise an eyebrow, but Leo sounded dead serious. Before we can pick his brain any further, a trumpet sounds. Large doors on the far side of the room that I've never noticed before start to slowly swing open. In the doorway stands a feminine figure who then proceeds to strut towards the center of the room as if it's a catwalk. Mom. For once her face is not plastered into a smile. "I have some bad news."
Authors note: This is for context in the next chapter. The next chapter will start the games. In the three days before the games, the half bloods found out what was going on, got their outfits: all variations of the same black on black with hiking boots and arm bands with the color associated with their godly parents.
