During diner, an Iris message appears in the sky over Camp Half Blood. Mr. D sits at a desk set up in the throne room on Mount Olympus. There's a long tray with many plastic fish bowls filled with sticky notes. Dionysus clears his throat. "The following demigods must report to Mount Olympus ASAP!" The god continues to say that one Greek demigod will be called for all twelve major gods, plus Hades, and that the kids chosen should pack overnight bags and messages would be sent to their loved ones notifying them of the change of location. Then he draws the names from the fishbowls and reads them out loud. "In alphabetical order, Piper McLean for Aphrodite! Huge fan of your dad's by the way." I look over at Piper, she shrugs. Nobody seems to know what's going on, why we have to spend a night with the Olympians on the top of the Empire State Building, but as long as Piper is safe, I'm ready for anything.
"Our Apollo representative will be Jaden Antellitonto! For Ares, we have Clarrise LaRue! A hunter will be chosen
to play for Artemis and her name is Morgen Elphante, ha! Her name sounds like elephant!" Mr. D goes on calling names, mostly of people I don't know. He makes comments like, "Oh, I never liked her anyway." Or, "Oooh, that's just karma." The other gods sit in the background with reactions that range from smiling, or sometimes even crying, depending on who's chosen. Annabeth is selected from the Athena cabin and Leo from Hephaestus. The kids from the Demeter and Dionysus cabins are strangers to me. I get bored and start playing with my fork. Then I hear my name. "Hera's tribute will be Jason Grace!"
