His final exams came around quicker than he would of liked. Louis had been assuring him constantly that things would be ok, but it wasn't the actual exams that worried Zayn. It was the thought of leaving his baby girl. Daislee was now almost six weeks old and he hadn't left her side since the moment she was born. He had seen how cut up it made Harry and he wasn't sure he could cope. Yes he's very aware it's only a few hours for one week. But it's still a lot.
"M' going to miss you so much Daisleedoo." He hummed, stroking her cheek as she lay against his chest. It was four in the morning and she had just finished her bottle.
The early morning wake up calls were pretty normal to him now. He didn't moan or pout about it , he just got on with it because at the end of the day, this is what he decided he wanted when he kept her.
"Your daddy misses you a lot ... he only has two weeks left in college though. Just like me, then he'll be home with us-well home with you. I'm not really part of his life in that sort of way anymore. But he's here for you baby girl, he'll always be here for you." He continued to murmur. "Of course he'll be here for me too.. but I think we're past the point of saving our relationship now. We can't just be together for your sake, it has to be what we both want."
Opening up to his daughter was something he had found himself doing a lot lately. She was a good listener , part of him liked to believe she truly understood every word he was speaking. Babies make excellent therapists.
"Zayn? Sunshine? You down here?" Trisha asked sleepily as she walked down the stairs.
"Yeah sorry? Did I wake ya' up?"
"Sort of , I was having a restless sleep and disturbed ... heard you speaking."
Zayn blushed at that.
"Oh yeah? What exactly did you hear mum?""Erm.. nothing really.. just you begging your six week old for pity as per usual." Trisha chuckled.
"Oi! I don't beg her for pity! I just talk to her about how I'm feeling!" Zayn snapped, he was actually hurt by her comment.
"I was joking baby, I didn't mean anything bad by it. What's got you so snappy?" She cooed, moving to sit on the couch beside him.
"N-nothing I'm just anxious is all."
"Oh! Your exam! Of course ... crap m' sorry sunshine I completely forgot that's today! I would of sat up with the baby last night!"
"It's fine, i can do it all mum. Sure I'll be a little tired but my body's that used to it now that sleep isn't a priority anymore." He sighed.
"Of course it is! You need sleep to function Zayn! You're no good to Daislee if you're passing out from exhaustion." Trisha scolded.
Zayn just shook his head, moving to now sleeping baby to lay on his arms.
"I'll survive, I have to do this mum. I made the choice to have a baby, that means she's my responsibility. Mine and Harry's , so whilst he's not here it's on me.""I'm so proud of you for stepping up, I really am. But my baby boy you're goin' to make ya' self sick!"
"It's not like I can feel any worse than I already do! So please let's not do this yeah?"
Trisha paused, her face showing nothing but concern as she looked at him. "What do you mean? Are you feeling sick? Are you feeling depressed? Lonely?"
"How about , I'm feeling like a teenage parent who's about to take the most important exams of his life?"
Zayn sighed. "M' fine, I just want to get some sleep so if you don't mind, I'm going to head back up.""Fine, but leave Daislee with me, I'll use her bouncer... you need as much sleep as you can get. What time is your first exam?"
"Mum i don't need you to swoop in all the time! You're babysitting all day that's enough!" He suddenly snapped , immediately regretting his decision when Daislee startled.
