It had been just over a month since they broke up. A whole month of moping around and feeling sorry for themselves. Sure they where always happy to spend time with one another but the second that time was over it was as though their heart just stopped beating . Harry knew his decision was an irrational one but at the same time it was nice to see Zayn more at ease around him now. He was back to his usual self - at least in front of Harry he was.
However the seventeen year old was more than aware that behind closed doors it may be another story. As for himself , his mum hasn't really spoke to him since the break up and to be honest he understood. Harry had just done exactly what Des had done to her all those years ago, minus the cheating and abandonment thing. He'd never ever leave his daughter behind like that. Anne still made sure to text and keep in contact but he could feel the strain in their relationship... it hurt.
Trisha had been ok with it, she was certain within herself that they'd end up back together at some point over their summer break.
Zayn and Harry knew otherwise. They weren't ready.
Zayn had finally came to the conclusion that the only way forwards was to just except that Harry's selfish decision was one he had been expecting and deal with it. Yep Harry was a selfish arsehole for what he did but so was Zayn. His original plan of their future had been a selfish choice, Harry got even. They where better off this way, things felt ok. Sure the pain was always lingering but now the relief overpowered that pain. They didn't feel as though they were forcing things now, it was as if their relationship hadn't happened... they where just two best friends who shared one perfect daughter.
Zayn no longer felt guilty about it now, he knew he did what he could in the moment. He had been scared , reckless and insane. He shouldn't have made the decision he did but he couldn't change it now. What happened had happened , that was that. It's like Harry had said to him that night... they had to move on otherwise there would be no coming back. They'd only hate each other in the end. Harry would hate Zayn for lying and Zayn would hate Harry for leading him on.
They where both as bad as each other as far as the sixteen year old father could see. Others would disagree of course, but that didn't matter it was their love story, their life, their decisions.
And if Zayn had a little hope flickering way down within him that someday Harry's hand would hold his own again... no one had to know.
"Do you think she'll need anymore than this?" Zayn asked showing Harry the piles of clothes.
"God no! Zayn you've packed her stuff for about a year! It's six weeks " Harry howled.
"I just want to be prepared! She's been really bad at keeping her bottles down recently!"
"Well I'm sure we will manage! It'll be fine ok? Now can we go down and help the mothers pack the cars?" The seventeen year old begged, holding their daughter against his chest.
"Ok, fine let's go down."
The family of three slowly made their way down the stairs. Their mothers and Eric already waiting for them patiently as Zayn struggled to carry their bags.
"You need a hand their son?" Eric snorted.
"Please."
"You're so dramatic sometimes Z." Harry snorted.
"I am not! My backs been in pieces ever since I got pregnant and do you know who's fault that was? Huh? It was yours!"
"Oooo someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed didn't they?"
Zayn just rolled his eyes, pressing a kiss to their daughters temple as he muttered. "Your daddy is an arsewipe baby girl."
"You did not! I can't believe you just said that to her!" Harry exclaimed.
"I am not an arsewipe Daislee, your Dede is just a salty bum today."
