Chapter 44 : Deeply Buried Secrets

Areson :

I was sitting in my living room, in the dark.

As much as I try to forget all about that past... It keeps haunting me. Still, no one knows the truth.

At that moment I heard a knock on the door.

I got up and went to open it.

Perez.

"Before you attack me again... John's out of risk, the police is not after him anymore, I spoke with someone." he announces.

"You just create all the mess and then start doing favors just like that... I'm sure you want something." I answer.

"What would I possibly want from you? I'm just trying to help an old friend of mine who does not like you that much." he says and then smiles.

"I can see it in your eyes Kingstone. You know you're guilty for something." he continues.

"You don't know everything." I contradict him.

"I doubt it. In fact, I think I know enough. And to be honest it's none of my business, but I can see you've fooled enough people already. What if they found out?" he says.

"I know you won't understand me. But you should know that I am not the same person." I oppose him once again.

"Does that automatically 'delete' your mistakes?" he asks and I refuse to answer.

"Why is this happening so many years after? What's Alastair's purpose?" I ask...

"Let's say that he notices something really unfair. And maybe he wants revenge? You should ask him yourself. And he already has Kasity. How does that feel now?" he provokes.

"Enough. I'll kindly ask you to leave before I lose my temper." I angrily say as I watch him turn around and leave.

Kasity :

"Oh my god you vanished again, where have you been girl?" Vanessa asks me nervously on the phone.

"Now how do I explain this to you..." I say...

"Don't worry Jason told me most of the story. He spoke with Areson." she answers, still worried...

"Where are you and when are you coming back?" She continues with her questions...

"Yeah uhm I'm a little far away. With Alastair. I am so angry but at the same time he's giving me the opportunity to leave and I cannot do it." I answer.

"Okay now wait. Why's Alastair with you and why did he kidnap you?" She asks, surprised.

"Well technically he saved me and now he's saving me from Areson's problems. Actually we had a deal and I intended to betray him but I guess he surprised us all. As far as I've managed to get to know him he's not a psychopath and I know he won't hurt me. I can see there's something else he wants which is connected to Areson. And I met Sebastian." I explain, hoping that she would understand.

"Sebastian is not a good thing...Not again...Do you want me to tell Jason to send some people or something like that just in case you want to feel safer? When are you coming back though? I miss you and you've got some things that should be done." She says...

"Maybe not, I know how to take care of myself. I'm coming back soon. Actually I'd to come back now but the last thing I want to do is face Areson's problems so that's why I'm not coming right away." I announce.

"Okay love just answer my calls so I know you're fine and please take care." She says and then hangs up.

At night, before the party.
