Madison's P.O.V
It was another late night performing. My band "Falling with Silence" was playing at a bar in downtown L.A. Standing room only. I loved late nights like this and loved that we were so popular. We'd had some bites from producers but we just weren't ready to be thrown into that world yet. We liked our low-key set up. We could make our own schedule, the pay was nice, I had awesome band mates and my best friend, although famous and pushy, accepted that we wanted to stay under the radar for now.
I got home around 3 a.m and got out of my car, making sure I locked it. Walking to my front door I noticed a moving truck parked at the house next door. Hmm must be the new neighbors. I thought to myself before going inside and immediately heading straight for my bed. I was exhausted and didn't plan on moving for the next century. At least that's what I tell myself.
My alarm blares bright and early the next morning and I roll over with a groan. Slamming my hand down on the stupid clock, I sit up rubbing my eyes. I stand up and walk over to my dresser mirror and frown. "Ugh I need to shower" I say out loud before walking to the bathroom.
30 minutes later I'm feeling refreshed as I walk downstairs in my towel with my hair in one as well. I head to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee and grab a bite to eat.
"While I must say, you're very hot, but it's not gonna happen Madi." A voice behind me says suddenly
I turn around with a Yelp and my hand over my chest to see my best friend Demi sitting at my island. How did I miss her when I walked in?
"Jesus Dem, you scared the hell out of me" I say frustrated
She laughs and just rolls her eyes at me, " honey I don't think I could scare the hell out of you anymore than I could get you to stop sleeping around so much" she smirks
"Okay first off, rude. And secondly, I don't "sleep around", I throw up finger quotes, " I just like to enjoy myself after a night of performing. There is nothing wrong with that." I say with a huff
"Okay haha if you say so hun." She snickers
"Ugh I hate you. I'm going to put some clothes on. DO NOT drink all my coffee. I need it" I point at her seriously before walking upstairs to change.
Coming back down to the kitchen, Demi had poured us both a cup of coffee and is going through her phone. We sit in silence for a while before she finally speaks up.
"So have you met your new neighbor yet?" She asks
"No, haven't had the chance. I seen the moving truck last night when I got home but didn't see anybody else." I say
"Hmm, let me know if they're hot when you do, I've gotta head to the studio. My manager said there's some touch ups I have to do for the new album." She says before standing up
"Ha ha very funny. Am I gonna get a sneak peek at this album before it's released or are you gonna be cruel and make me wait like last time?" I joke
"You know what, just for that comment I might just make you wait." She deadpans
I give her a look of hurt before smiling and hugging her. I walk with her to the front porch and watch her get in her car and leave. Before going inside I look next door and see movers carrying furniture inside the house. I decide to refill my coffee before coming back outside and sitting on my porch swing to enjoy the weather. Also I might be spying to catch a glimpse of the new neighbor but I'm nosy so I can't help it.
About an hour or so later I see a car coming down the street and pull into the driveway next door. I hold my phone up a little further to hide the fact that I'm being nosy and wait to see who gets out. I was very much not disappointed to see that it was a woman getting out. I couldn't see her face from this distance but she gave off an air of confidence that intrigued me.
Deciding to not be a creep anymore I went inside to change into some workout clothes and walked downstairs to my garage opening the door to let the breeze through. I had a somewhat custom gym set up in there with a punching bag, a treadmill, some weights and other things. My bike was parked against the far wall out of the way.
I spent a few minutes wrapping my hands before walking over to the punching bag and stretching. I lost track of how long I was hitting the bag but my breaths grew ragged so I stopped long enough to get some water. After a short break, I started my daily run on the treadmill. I always run at least 3 miles a day regardless of how busy or tired I am. Helps me work on my breath control, something you need when you're a singer in a band.
30 minutes later I shut the treadmill off, done with my 3 miles. With my garage doors open and it being on the side of my house I can still see the neighbors house and all the furniture being taken in. I lay down on my mat on the garage floor and stare up at the ceiling waiting for my heart rate to level out again. I'm not sure how long I was laying there but I was vaguely aware of footsteps coming closer and closer.
I had no motive to move from my position until I heard a soft raspy voice speak up, "Hi neighbor."
