Madison's P.O.V

Taking off my ear piece after the show I could feel my heart hammering in my chest. I knew why it was beating so frantic but I chose to ignore it. I wasn't going to let myself feel these feelings that were stirring in my chest.

Sure I liked Lizzie. She was amazing but I wasn't going to put myself out there to be hurt again. We were friends and that's it. That's all we'd ever be. I don't think she'd intentionally hurt me but I don't like taking chances. And I don't want to hurt her with my fucked up life choices.

I walked down the hall to the front of club where I saw Lizzie standing at the bar sipping on a mixed drink of sorts. I stopped at the end of the bar and ordered 5 shots of Jäger. The shit was nasty but it was strong and fast acting. I needed some liquid courage after singing that last song.

I downed all 5 shots in a quick go before getting a water bottle to wash the taste out. I took a deep breath and walked over to the neighbor that was taking over my thoughts. She smiled when she saw me and quickly made her way over wrapping me in a tight hug.

"Oh my god! You were absolutely amazing. You looked so at home and comfortable up there." She said letting go of me but keeping her hand on my arms as we sat at the bar close together. A little too close maybe.

"Thanks haha. I was hoping we didn't disappoint." I said with a smirk

"Oh you definitely did not disappoint. And I'm suddenly very fond of that last song choice." She said flirtingly

I smiled at her before looking out over the crowd. It was definitely busy tonight. I turned back to Lizzie and opened my mouth to say something when we were interrupted by a shrill voice.

"Madison!! You look amazing. I was hoping we could have a repeat of the other night. I had a great time." The girl said

I honestly didn't recognize her. My face must've said it cause she introduced herself as Kyla, saying that we met at the jukebox club in east L.A. where I was playing. I nodded as if I remembered but I didn't. I wasn't interested but I didn't want to be rude. She kept rambling and I turned to the bartender to order 2 shots of tequila.

I think Lizzie picked up that I wasn't interested because she suddenly spoke up as I was downing the shots.

"Look sweetie, I don't think she's interested right now. And she's kind of here with me at the moment. Maybe some other time. Like never." She said sharply but with a sickly sweet smile

The Jäger was already hitting so I couldn't help but burst out laughing when she finished talking. I think my laugh was taken as agreement because the girl huffed and walked away.

Lizzie turned to me and smiled before ordering a martini. We spent some time talking and I continued drinking. She only had the 1 mixed drink and martini cause she had to drive. It was getting fairly late and I was well on my way to being plastered but I handled it well. Suddenly a song came on and my head shot up.

I looked over at my neighbor and smiled. She smiled back. Then a devious look crossed my face and she suddenly looked worried.

"Dance with me." I said

She laughed and shook her head no but I grabbed her hand and drug her to the dance floor anyways with her still laughing as she tried to keep up.

I turned and pulled her into me, wrapping her arms around my neck and mine around her waist. Our bodies moved in sync to the music. Her body pressed against mine just felt so right somehow.
