Rowan's POV

RON and Harry didn't seem too happy about me not heeding their warning about Fred. Hermione continued to be positively thrilled about my relationship, and some other girls in our year shared the same sentiment. Even a couple girls from Fred's year, Angelina Johnson and Alicia Spinnet expressed their congratulations for our relationship.

But there were still plenty of other girls who weren't shy about hiding their contempt and jealousy that they now held towards me. The source of their envy was because I had somehow managed to snag an older guy with no effort whatsoever, and a Weasley at that. Fred Weasley.

Lavendar Brown and Parvati Patil were probably the most venomous about it. Although, that didn't surprise me, they had always been the 'mean girls' of Gryffindor, judging everyone around them for every little thing. It was worth it though just to see the look on their faces whenever Fred was around, consistently acting like the perfect gentleman.

"Have a good class." Fred says to me, handing over the textbooks he was carrying for me as he walked me to class, despite his class being on the other side of the castle. I protested at first, telling him that he shouldn't be late for his own class, but he simply stated that it would eat Ron alive to see him spending even more time with me. Going out of his way to accompany his 'girlfriend' to class. And he also managed to mention that what kind of boyfriend would he seem like if he didn't. Like I said, he's the perfect gentleman. I had never realized Fred was like that until now. He'll make a perfect real boyfriend for some girl someday.

"I wish I had a guy who was as chivalrous to me as Fred is to you. And the way he looks at you makes my heart melt." Hermione sighs as we line up outside our Transfiguration class. She's right Fred was proving to be quite chivalrous, but he is a Gryffindor after all. He's also gotten the lovesick puppy look down, something I'm still trying to get the hang of. I only wish it was Ron being a chivalrous gentleman and looking at me with love in his eyes. Real love, not the fake love between Fred and I.

"What about Victor?" I ask her, referring to the Bulgarian seeker and Durmstrang champion she attended the Yule Ball with last year. The last time I checked, the two were still together, exchanging weekly letters by owl.

"We're not together anymore." She shrugs.

Ron seems to perk up, snapping out of his gloom at this news. "Since when?" he demands. For some reason that I've never quite figured out, Victor has always been a bit of a sore subject between the two of them, so I'm surprised Ron actually wants to hear something involving Krum, even if it is Hermione's breakup.

Hermione sighs. "Since the last letter I sent him yesterday evening. "I was writing letters in great detail about everything happening here at Hogwarts, my feelings and all of that stuff. But the letters he sends back are usually just the same two sentences about how he misses me and can't wait to see me again. I shouldn't even be that surprised though, even when we were together we didn't really talk much or at all really. Victor's more of a physical being." She explains, blushing at that last sentence.

Ron's face seems to turn red at the same sentence, but for what reason, I don't know.

"And just seeing you with Fred." Hermione says, directing her next words at me. "It made me realise that relationships are so much more than the physical things. Obviously it matters, but the emotional stuff matters just as much, if not more."

Ron scoffs. "The only reason he's doing those things is to try and get into your pants and then ditch you like every girl before you."

Once again, Hermione slaps him on the back of his head. Only this time it's with her hand rather than a book, and across the back of his head instead of his arm. "Don't be an arse Ronald! Just because you always have an ulterior motive when being nice, doesn't mean every other guy does!" She scolds.

This launches the pair of them into an argument, going back and forth until we take our seats in the class, waiting for Professor McGonagall to start teaching. Ron and Hermione take the desk in front of Harry and I who sit next to each other, as usual. I manage to block out their consistent bickering that will most likely continue until class starts and may even resume right afterwards.

"Ron shouldn't have been so blunt about what he said. But he does kind of have a point. You should be careful, I don't want you to fall in love with him and then he breaks your heart. The last thing I want is for you to be heartbroken over a guy who doesn't deserve you." Harry says beside me.

I sigh. "Thanks Harry for the heads up, but I'll be fine. I can take care of myself."

"I know you can." He says, giving me a weak smile as he pulls out his school stuff and starts to take notes.

I do the same, thankful that Harry cares and annoyed at Ron for being...well...for being Ron.

*****

A/N: Rowan can be really smart sometimes and really dense other times. Just FYI.

Also sorry for making Ron kind of an asshole, it will make sense later, I promise.
