Chapter-2

ANNA POV

(After 3years)

Gosh what a tiring day. Going back and forth to hospital is not that easy with my exam coming up. Only if someone could help me with my notes. How I wish Mom gets better and help me with my daily life. I don’t want to disturb Nana too she musta be busier than I am and she’s also getting weak day-by-day because of mom. Uncle hardly comes home because of work. How can they let alone a 13years old child take care of herself? Okay i won’t blame anyone. All I wish is for speedy recovery of mom. Until then I will have to take responsibility of me ANNA CHIN UP YOU CAN DO IT!

DREW: (whispering) Hey Girl Stop talking to yourself like a mad girl.

ANNA:Gosh you scared me to death. Why so sneaky (beating him)

DREW:Stop it! Sometimes I am confused over your gender. Are you a boy or a girl? Why does your hand hurt so much- (still hitting him) Okay fine I am sorry?

ANNA:Drew please stop teasing me. Will you? I am already tired as it is. I don’t have stamina anymore. I don’t know whether I can even reach the class.

(they were on their way to school)

DREW: No sign of recovery?
ANNA: Yes still the same. She’ still refused to talk staying still like a statue. Oh GOD- Please side with me this time. Please bless my mom (looking at the clear sky-sweating)

DREW: Don’t worry. She’ll be Fine. Don’t lose hope- (wiping her sweat) come let’s walk faster it’s almost class time-and very sunny too. You might get heatstroke.

After walking for few minutes they reach the school. DREW is Anna close friend they have been classmate since grade 1 even though Anna is older by few months they get along very well. People used to call them a bottle and a cover since they are inseparable. Even the teachers knew about their friendship. And Drew being a top student and also comes from a well-off family. He lacks nothing in terms of looks, brain and wealth. And yes he also happens to be the class president.

CLASSMATES: Good Morning Ann-drew..

The classmates call them anndrew putting the two names together.

ANNA: Morning-morning (sits down) Gosh what’s the weather degree today. I am sweating like a river. I hope there’s no assembly today.

CLAIRE: That’s the wish of all the students in this building. By the way How’s your preparation for the upcoming exam?

ANNA: don’t even ask me. I still hasn't completed the practical. And yes the notes too- (looking so weary)

CLAIRE: What do you even do at home that you’re so busy- While you’re copying the notes you can ask your mom or dad or siblings to write your practical. You can finish it in one day.

ANNA: I am the only child.

CLAIRE: Then doesn’t that makes it easier- you can ask your mom for help.

ANNA:(how I wish that could happen. No one actually is there to help me. Why is my life so boring? Okay I need to holdback my tears)  I guess that’ll solve everything.
(bell rings)

And so on the day begins Anna was dozing off in every classes. Sometimes even though she is made to stand outside the class she never stops dozing. Because of sleep deprived. Claire would sometimes note the important portion while she stood outside- worried that anna would not make it.Finally it’s the class of one of the strictest teacher in their school. THE MATHEMATICS TEACHER.

CLAIRE: Ann get a hold of yourself its MATH now. You know what will happen right if you doze off.

ANNA: Claire I am so tired- I can’t even sit straight. But I’ll try my best.
(teacher enters)

MATH-T: Good Afternoon Students- sit down. Today I want everyone to pay attention to the class as I will be taking up new chapter. If you don’t know the basic you will have to struggle a lot in the exercise. And you know what will happen if you fail in my subject right.

STUDENTS:YESSSSS-

And so on the class goes on. Anna tried her best to be attentive. But she can’t take it anymore as a result she dozed off. Unluckily she got caught.

MATH-T: Ann didn’t I warn you before. What’s wrong with you? You are sitting right infront of me and you still dare to sleep. Get out of my class right now (points the door)

ANNA: I am sorry Sir. I won’t repeat it again.

MATH-T:(shouts) don’t you hear me saying GET OUT RIGHT NOW-

Anna Got no choice but to stand outside for another hour. She held back her tears- looking down thinking what a bad luck she is. Thinking why she can’t get a normal life like those kids.
(after the mathematics class)

MATH-T: ANN- let it be the last time this happens in my class. Next time if the same thing happens again, I am scared you won’t be able to join any of my classes. (Leaves)

Anna enters the class hanging her head down in shame. She went straight to her seat ignoring everyone who asked her whether her leg is numb or not. She then, slept again.

DREW: Claire don’t wake her up until the next two classes are over. I’ll ask the teachers for permission; to be honest she was feeling a bit unwell on our way to school.

Drew went back to his seat.

MAX: Drew what’s wrong with her (nodes at Ann)
BREW: She’s feeling unwell. Hmm-Hmm

Max is also there classmate. Also he was courting Anna but Anna rejected him saying it’s the best for him because she didn’t want the world to know what exactly she is going through.

MAX: Don’t hm hm-I was just asking. Don’t take it in other sense. Remember she rejected me.

DREW:I said nothing but you are just blurting all so many words. Hahah I know you don’tlike her.

After classes are over they head back together and part their ways as their home route are different.
