CHAPTER-26

DAUNT:  Your parents will be so disappointed if they know you are hanging out with a gold-digger daughter.

MAX:  My parents know And they have nothing against me hanging out with Anna.

DAUNT:  Gosh I need to talk to your parents. They know nothing about this child history.

ANNA:  Stop It- Aunt I never thought you’d treat me like this. When you know nothing about our family! Who are you to judge my mom? My mom is far more better than you. Max let’s go,

DAUNT:  You better disappear from my sight before I hit you. NO respect to elders. Didn’t your parents teach you? Sadly I heard your dad is no more right- Who knows your mom might have eaten him-

MAX:  You are too much. Drew will be so disappointed when he knows what had happen.

DAUNT: As if. Our Drew is so clever he knows whom to hang out with-

ANNA:  Let’s just go-

They left-
Max took Anna to his parent’s hotel.

MAX: Rest assure it’s my parents place.

ANNA:  Thank you Max- You are the only place I could run to at the end of the day.

MAX: Anna didn’t I promised you before that I will always stand by your side.

ANNA: *hugs him-crying*

MAX:  Stop crying. Don’t worry I am here now- Can you tell me why and how you are here? *saws the injury on her leg*  Where did you get this scratch from? Did that old woman beat you again?

ANNA:  Did you get hurt like this when you sneak in the other day?

MAX:  Wait Did you jump out from the window?

ANNA: YES I had to-*told him about the conversation she overheard*

MAX: What? That Old bitch is sending away her own blood to someone- Gosh she is going too far this time. I just can’t believe- people like her still exist. By the way what about your mother? I hope you don't take it to heart what Aunt just said. she is just short temper.

ANNA:  I know - my mom will never abandoned me. Max why don’t you go with me to the hospital where my mother used to go for treatment? I want to go and meet the doc who used to treat my mom.

MAX: Okay- clean up yourself first. They will bring up the food in few minutes.

ANNA:  okay-

She took a warm bath and ate her lunch-look around the place, as she was going through the place she was shocked to see something which attract her eyes.  After few minutes Max came back.

ANNA: MAX  You told me your parents owned this place right? How long has it been? Do you have any idea?

MAX:  It was already here before I was born. It’s pretty old. You know this room is special no one is allowed to enter but since there are no vacant rooms I just bought you here.

ANNA:  Will your parents still have the customers  numbers?

MAX:  What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly interested-

ANNA: Them *points at a picture which was framed and kept at the corner of the room along with a date*

MAX:  Yes- THEM?

ANNA: I know them- Come here take a look-*takes out her parents pic from her bag* They are the same person right?

MAX:  *comparing the pictures* How comes you have their pictures?

ANNA:  She’s my mom *points at the the woman in the picture*

MAX:  Then, does that mean the guy in that picture is your DAD?

ANNA: *nods*

MAX: *shocked* The world is indeed small. Come let’s go to hospital first- And after that I will take you to my parents. They must have known something about your parents.

ANNA:  Okay- Thank you Max-

Max: Anything for you.

MAX knows something but wasn’t willing to say anything because he doesn’t know how to bring up. So, they decided to go hospital first. They have reached the hospital.

MAX:  I have some urgent works- I need to hurry.  Will you be okay alone?

ANNA:  Yes I am familiar with the way. Go if you have work.

MAX:  *Hands out a phone* Here- ring me up if anything happens. I have saved my number. And this *putting on the cap for her* Take care Anna. I will be back soon. Don’t let that old bitch catch you okay-

ANNA:  Don’t worry. I have something to say to you after everything is settled-

MAX:  I hope it’s get settled soon *wink*

And they separated their ways. Anna went to meet Dr. Henry not knowing Henry has already resigned from the hospital. Meanwhile Max drove at full speed to Drew place-

MAX:  *knocks-*

DUNCLE: *opens the door* Oh hy Max- What brings you here?

MAX:  Uncle is Drew home?

DUNCLE:  Yes- *shouts* DREW your friend MAx is here.

DREW: Wow- What makes you come to our place? Come in-

DAUNT:  See who’s visiting Isn’t that the brave guy who took in the girl with crocodile tear-

DUNCLE: Mellisa- Don’t act like a kid. Let the kids talk.

DREW:  What do you mean by that Aunty? Max what’s wrong?

MAX:  Your aunty right here confronted Anna before humiliating her in public without knowing anything. Anna was in her worse condition but she didn’t even lend her hand for help instead scold her using her mother name.

DAUNT:  I was just spitting out facts- as if. Kids these days!
