Ch.7 A riddle

"Look!" Maddie gasped at a slide in front of them "This is a short cut to get to Cari, I remember this slide".

"Um, are you sure?" Alex asked.

"I'm sure" Maddie said "Now, you go first".

"What?" Alex said "Why me?"

"Because it's fun".

"I'm not sure Maddie" Alex said "I haven't been on a slide-".

But Maddie had already pushed him on the slide.

"Maddie!" he yelled as he went down the slide.

The slide was all topsy turvy with many twists and turns, and it stopped when Alex came to the end and rolled on the ground. But as he got up, Maddie came down the slide and crashed into him, and together they rolled down a hill until it came to a stop with Maddie on Alex's stomach.

"That was fun" Maddie smiled.

"Would you get off of me?" Alex asked.

"Oh sorry" Maddie said as she helped Alex up "There's more smoke" she pointed to more color changing smoke in the air "We're almost there".

When they followed the smoke, they were now in front of Cari Pillar. She was laying on a giant mushroom smoking her hookah with butterflies and caterpillars around her. She had butterfly like detials around her eyes, blue lips, different colors of blue streaks in her long hair, a monocle necklace, a turquoise colored flowly shirt, dark and light blue stripped leggings with a light blue mini skirt over it, and golden flats.

"Hello Cari" Maddie said.

Cari took the hookah out of her mouth and looked at Alex.

"Who, are, you?" she asked him as she blew smoke into his face.

"Alex" he coughed as he brushed the smoke out of his face.

"Son of Alice" Maddie added.

Cari looked through the monocle on her necklace.

"Indeed you are" she said.

"Cari" Maddie said "We need you to tell us where the Vorpal Sword is".

"The Vorpal Sword" Cari said as she continued to smoke her hookah "Now I can only tell you where it is by a riddle".

"A riddle?" Alex asked.

"What's the riddle?" Maddie asked.

"A tree with a trunk that's thick and grey, where you find it, it will stay. The palm size leaves are round and green, this is not like what you've seen. On the stem grows yellow roses, the scent of primposeys will fill your noses. Long black stripes are created on the bark, you may just find it before dark. Tell the tree to open it's gate, and there in the center, the swords awaits".

"Uh, can you repeat that?" Alex asked "I didn't quite get that".

"Here" Cari said as she blew out some smoke into her hands, when the smoke cleared, on her hand was a page.

"This page has the riddle" she handed the page to Alex.

"A tree that's thick and grey?" Maddie said "I don't know a tree describe like that".

"How can we find this tree?" Alex asked Cari "I mean, there's lot's of trees around".

"I'll only tell you one thing" Cari said "This tree stands alone".

"A lone tree" Maddie said "I think I've that before".

"And when you get your sword" Cari added "Go see Lily White, she'll give you your armor".

"Lily White?" Alex said.

"Daughter of the White Queen" Maddie said "She's really nice".

"Any other questions?" Cari asked.

"No" Maddie said "But thank you for your help".

"My pleasure" Cari said as she blew out alot of smoke which surrounded her, and when the smoke cleared, she was gone.
