Despite missing each other, they just stood still with welcoming smiles on their faces. Todoroki couldn't contain his happiness when he looked at her. [y/n], on the other hand, went over the moon.
All these overflowing emotions just proved how much they missed each other so much. It was becoming unhealthy.
"Hi," Todoroki was the one to break the silence. It was unusual because [y/n] was always the first to talk.
Despite the triumph all over her, she was able to suppress a giggle, "How was internships?"
"It's... complicated," [y/n] chuckled at his reply while Todoroki still continued staring at her dreamily.
"Hey," She then started fiddling with her fingers shyly when she hung her head low, she was trying to make sure he couldn't see the red tints of her face, "can you stay here for a little bit? I, um..."
Todoroki blinked then smiled knowing what she was meaning to say, "Okay."
-
"You wanna wait for a shooting star?" Todoroki asked once they lied beside each other while stargazing at the blue sky unusually full of stars.
[y/n] replied with a nod, "Yeah."
'No, I just want to be with you tonight...'
"Then I will too," Todoroki responded which caught [y/n] off guard. She gave him a side-eye with eyes filled with sparkles, but then disappeared when another thought struck her.
'...because this might be the last.'
She simply hid her melancholic emotions with a smile, "Thank you."
He nodded then it was silence that came in next. They were a little awkward because they didn't know what else to say to each other. Of course, they thought of confessing but it was different for the each of them.
Todoroki wanted to confess his feelings while [y/n] wanted to confess about leaving the town sooner than later.
But for some reason, they just can't. They weren't confident enough, nor were they going to expect something good after that.
For now, they let silence speak for themselves.
[y/n] never thought she'd be sad while she was in the town. And it was all because of her goddamned parents and the fear of leaving Todoroki alone. She's only known him completely for days but she never expected to be afraid of losing him. It was scarier this time when there was a possibility that she might never come back to her grandma again, or more specifically, to him.
She had a bad feeling about what Erika and Sodou's intention was.
Todoroki was feeling the opposite.
He was happy and a bit lonely at the same time. He still didn't know if she knew about the recent incident and it looked like she didn't even notice the bandages all over his body. Why was that?
"Didn't you hear the news about Stain?" Hesitantly, he questioned. He kept his voice low, he was just too shy.
"Oh I did," She answered briefly. Todoroki was surprised at the tone of her voice. She sounded nonchalant and calm about it as if nothing bad happened.
He swallowed the lump in his throat, "Then you should know I was involved in it."
"I do."
Todoroki was starting to be nervous. How was she so calm when he was hurt? Shouldn't she be worried sick?
"T-Then why didn't you visit me?"
Silence.
Then, there was a soft laugh filling the silence.
Todoroki stared at her, a confused look on his face. As soon as she was finished, she grinned innocently with her gaze back at him, "I knew you can save everyone, because you're strong."
wwwwwwwhhhhhhhhoooooooosssssshhhhhhh!
Being consumed by her words and her smile, Todoroki's heart skipped a beat. Usually, when someone makes it out of a fight with earned bruises on their body, people immediately gets worried sick. But she was different. It was because she trusted him. It was because she admired his strength, his power, his determination, his self.
"Why?" He asked, his voice firm and sincere.
[y/n] smiled then looked up to the stars, "I just know it."
"....thank you."
[y/n]'s grew wider and it made him do the same. He couldn't stand it. She was a drug he can't let go of. She was a painting he can't stop staring at. She was a strawberry flavored mochi he wanted to have. She was a delicate plume he wanted to touch.
And yet, she was a star he can't reach.
He was way too out of her league, so as she for him.
In other words, they were both out of each other's league.
Both were perfect in looks and traits but they lacked some other aspects. They weren't too high, neither were they down the earth but they were still having their own difficulties.
Todoroki had an abusive father, a crazy mother, a chivalrous big brother, and two foolish siblings.
[y/n] had a prick father—who by the way, do drugs and an abusive alcoholic but a little more gentle; a mother—who by the way, do drugs too and is also an abusive alcoholic who beats the hell out of her and does not show any mercy at all.
They were like perfect sculptures that were made by a pair of dirty and aching hands.
That's why they came out beautiful. They were made carefully but for what reason?
It was still a mystery to them.
"Shoto... can I hug you?"
Todoroki widened his eyes for a split second before nodding nervously. [y/n] smiled smally before scooting closer to his body. She buried her face to his bare chest, just like how she did when they first hugged each other. Todoroki gently threw his arm over her and pressed her back against his, feeling more comfortable in that position.
[y/n] could feel how fast his heart was beating and it made her giggle. Todoroki pouted with blush all over his face. Then they decided to forget about it.
All they needed was each other at the time. They both longed for each other's warmth, touch, and their linked souls.
And for a short period of time, they felt at ease, not knowing the tragedy coming ahead of them.
