[y/n] sat below one of the Sakura trees in silence. She stared at the evergreen grass and smiled dreamily when she began reminiscing about the event that took place last night. She remembered the last words he had said before leaving her grandma's yard.
“Let's meet tomorrow. Maybe at sunset.”
So there she was, eagerly waiting for the half-n-half boy for two whole hours. Despite the exhaustion, she was determined that he will soon come. She just had to wait a little longer and maybe become patient as another life lesson.
[y/n] then shifted her gaze to the orange sky provided by a ball of setting sun and soft cottons of clouds.
“I'm waiting, Todoroki.”
She mumbled heartily, her mind filled with the boy who had been bothering her in an also strange but pleasant way, just like how Todoroki thought of her. Being terribly expectant of his arrival, she closed her eyes and decided to take a short nap to pass the time.
-
“Hey, I'm sorry for the wait.”
She perked her head up, meeting his small smile and his eyes. He sat down beside her with the grass tickling their bodies. She gazed at him and while he was getting himself comfortable, she took a flower crown out of nowhere and placed it on top of his head, his hair slightly bouncing in the process.
He spared a moment to process anything then turned to look at her with an adorable confused pikachu face, except he wasn't smiling. He was rather startled than amused.
“Huh? What's this?” He questioned, playing with one of the yellow petals on top of his head. [y/n] giggled, “I made it for you. I figured you'd look cute with it.”
After a moment of silence, he asked, “Cute?”
[y/n] spared a second to glance at him before lifting her lips upward with tightly closed eyes, “Yeah.”
He blushed then looked away. It took him a while but he complimented her back, “You're cute too.”
[y/n]'s face flushed at the sudden comment. She watched his eyes darting away from hers, painfully trying to avoid unnecessary eye contact. She just smiled.
'Thank you.'
“Hey.”
'Thank you for being with me.'
“Wake up.”
'I've been wanting to tell you this but I was afraid and too embarrassed to confront you.'
“Hey, wake up.”
'But now, I'll say it.'
“Hey. Hey. Hey.”
'I—'
“Hey!”
[y/n]'s eyes fluttered open as soon as she felt a poke on her cheek. She found herself blushing when the first thing that came into view was the boy who she had just dreamed about. He was kneeling in front of her with his index finger making contact with her delicate skin. They made eye contact, only it was a bit awkward this time because of the almost nonexistent space between the two.
She gulped, still locked in his unexpectedly soft gaze. Then, he broke the silence hoping he didn't intimidate her in any way.
“I'm sorry. My class ended a little later than I had expected,” Despite the concern and guilt panned in his heart, Todoroki still sounded.... well, Todoroki. But she knew he was genuine so she didn't try hard to suppress a smile with closed eyes, “It's okay. Besides, we still have plenty of time.”
“I guess.”
And they were awkward again after a relatively short conversation. They both admit that they were bad with communicating with people. They were locked up in their own homes, remember?
So, when [y/n] noticed that he wasn't realizing the position they were both in, she cleared her throat, “Uh, you can move away now.”
The oblivious Todoroki blinked when deep inside, he was panicking like crazy. He let out a fake cough while averting his gaze away to somewhere else but her. He abruptly stood up and rubbed his nape with his face burning red.
[y/n] scoffed amused, then stood up, dusting off the dirt from her dress then went back to look at the shy teenage boy. Todoroki fought the urge to look back at her but she was making it hard for him not to. Defeated, he slowly shifted his eyes to her and they met again.
She smiled, “Hello, Shoto Todoroki.”
“Hi. [y/n] [l/n], was it?”
“Yes.”
She then noticed a small wound on his cheek. Even though it was small, she knew it must've hurt and he was probably oblivious that there was a wound on his cheek in the first place.
She touched his cheeks thoughtlessly, startling him then felt a stinging pain on the part she touched.
Once she noticed him flinch by her touch, she began to worry, “Oh, I'm sorry. Does it sting?”
He nodded, still looking unfazed, “Yeah. I don't remember having it all the time.”
“You must've had some kind of training in your class. It makes sense though, you're training to be a hero.”
He looked up at her, “Do you literally know everything about me?”
She chuckled, “No. I just happen to listen to a few neighbors' gossips around.”
He then shrugged, looking down indifferently, “I see.”
[y/n] pressed it again and this time, he flinched evidently, “Does it still hurt?”
Todoroki nodded.
She pressed her lips together, “I don't have a healing quirk but I think I can still help you.”
Without getting the chance to reply, she let go and wandered around the area seeming like she was searching for something.... from the ground.
“I swore I saw it somewhere here before...”
Todoroki watched as she crawled on the grass but somehow looked beautiful. The way her [h/l] hair sometimes flew by the wind made her look like a fairy looking for her lost wand.
“Ah! Here it is!” She then sat down on her knees and delicately put her palm on the grass. For a moment, Todoroki thought she was stupid. But after seeing a lime green glow under her palm, his eyes twinkled.
And then, a bunch of leaves grew and some even popped out between her fingers.
'Maybe that's her quirk?', he thought.
She then put her palms away and plucked a bunch of leaves from the sudden growing plant. It was incredible to Todoroki, now he was convinced that she truly was a goddess. A nature goddess, actually. Or a fairy. Or maybe Mother Nature herself, he didn't know. He just thought she was so perfect. Too perfect to even exist.
She stood up and ran worriedly towards him, “Here, this will help heal that wound.”
“You don't need to, it doesn't hurt that much actually.”
“I know it stings. It may be just a small scratch but it hurts too, it's going to cause a scar on your face. That won't be a pleasant view.”
Todoroki got lost in her eyes again before she broke the contact by crushing the leaves and wiped the liquid into the wound. It hurt, yes, but Todoroki could care less. He was too fixated on her and her swift moves. Not to mention the delicate touch she placed on his face while applying herbal medicine.
He felt at ease in her care.
And for the first time in his life, he felt safe, with a stranger he barely knew.
