Chapter Eleven: Snowless Home

I made my way up the stairs, towards the library for a bit of extra studying since the next semester, they said they would be starting to make the work load larger and class lessons faster. Meaning we would probably be making two potions a day rather than one.

I took each step in a sulking sort of manner. My feet dragged along the steps and my bag hung loosely over my shoulders. It wasn’t because of the extra workload that we would be granted, that was for sure.

We had just recently been told that tomorrow winter break would begin. If we had signed a list at the end of class, we would be staying at Hogwarts for the holidays, though, if we didn’t we would be heading home for said holiday.

In many ways, I was glad that I was going to be going home for break. I wouldn’t have to worry about homework and I’d get to see Delator. I would also be there for christmas in which my mother always goes all out for it, in which includes me getting to cook a bunch of food behind her back.

The downside is that I would have to see said mother.

I also wouldn’t get to see my friends, we wouldn’t have any snow, I would have to listen to my mother go on and on about how great her relatives were, I wouldn’t get to learn as much as I like to learn, I couldn’t practice Quiddditch with an actual Bludger.

I’d rather not think of the many other things I would be missing out on and or would have to endure. At least I get to see Delator, yeah. I should just think about that.

I finally arrived on the third floor and headed into the library, alone this time. Lisa was busy packing at the moment since she had a bunch of things that were out already, and she didn’t think wise to pack the other day. She also wasn’t really wanting to learn anything new yet.

It seemed to be empty for the most part, a few older Ravenclaws and seemingly, I noticed a familiar patch of bushy hair in the corner, along with two other pairs of heads that I knew pretty well.

Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all huddled together, seeming to be talking in low voices. They then got up and seemed to look around. Harry went towards the restricted section, Hermione towards another ile while Ron stayed at the table, seeming to have trouble keeping his nose in a book.

I caught Hermione’s eye as she turned towards me, I smiled and she did back, only to immediately turn back to the shelf that she was searching. Making my way over towards a table nearby, I noticed Ron look towards me for a split second, then back at the book as I took a seat at a table near theirs, setting down my things and opening my bag.

I pulled out my Transfiguration book, deciding to start on the chapter that we needed to work on next, maybe even getting a head start by trying to Transfigure my quill into something else.

I began to scan the first chapter, as scanning was a pretty bad habit I picked up, since most of the time I missed something important in the text, though, reading it over twice more usually is the trick to get it in my head.

I then saw Harry walk out of the Library out of the corner of my eye, And Madam Pince returned to her spot at the front desk, she must have ushered him out. I returned to my book, beginning to read the next line on the third page for the next chapter.

“Transfiguring animals is very different from transfiguring humans. There is also the case where a human transfigures themselves temporarily or, to perform a spell where they can transform freely if they have a wand on hand, in which we call those people Animagi. (See Book 3 page 52 for more information on Animagi)” I read to myself silently. I started at the word Animagi for a good moment, remembering what I had heard about it from Mandy.
