When Troy goes to bed around eight, Marina suggests movie night with some popcorn. I'll never turn down movie night with popcorn so I told Marina that I'd be down to stay for a movie night. Adam and Bobby say that have to go because Adam wants to see Britt and Bobby has his girls but Kyle says he'll stay.

Marina goes to make popcorn for us and Roderick goes through Netflix with me and Kyle, trying to find something to watch. The guys ultimately decide on watching the first Conjuring movie. "No," I say. "No way. No scary movies."

"Come on, Rylee," Roddy says. "Jump scares can be fun! Live a little."

I pout and say, "I hate jump scares."

Kyle chimes in and says, "Here, I'll come sit with you and you can hold my hand."

Roderick looks between us and I say, "I'd rather hold hands with a pillow." The three of us laugh as Marina walks back in.

She hands me a bowl of popcorn and sits on the couch with Roddy. Kyle sits with them and I sit on the comfy chair adjacent to them. Marina sees the movies the guys picked and says, "If I have a nightmare tonight, you're sleeping on the couch, Roddy."

The movie starts and I curl up on the chair, the bowl of popcorn sits in my lap. I eat some popcorn as the movie starts.

Halfway through, I'm hiding behind my hands. Marina is in Roderick's arms and Kyle is just watching the movie. I hate movies like this so much. The suspense and jump scares have been getting me, almost to the point of tears because I'm so scared.

I look at Kyle and I squeak, "Kyle."

He looks over at me and asks, "What's wrong?"

"Can I come over there?" I ask, looking at him with hopeful eyes.

Kyle nods and I get off the chair. I walk over to the couch. I sit next to Kyle, almost practically on his lap. I hide behind his shoulder and watch the movie.

He moves his hand and rests it on my knee. I look up at him. He looks down at me and asks, "Better?" His voice has lowered to a whisper.

I nod and say, "Yeah. Thanks."

We both go back to watching the movie. I rest my head on his shoulder.

At some point, I must've fallen asleep because I wake up in the passenger's seat of my car. I look over at who's driving and see Kyle. "What time is it?" I ask.

"Close to eleven," Kyle says. "You fell asleep on me so after talking to Roderick and Marina for a bit, I put you in your car and I'm driving you home."

I sit up and ask, "What about your car?"

Kyle makes a turn and says, "I'll just Uber back to Roddy's after dropping you off."

My phone starts to ring and I look to see who it is. It's Dakota. I answer it and say, "Hey, Kota."

"Hey," Dakota says. "What are you doing right now? You want to come out with me and Raquel?"

I glance at Kyle and say, "I'm, um, out right now."

Kota says, "Ooh, where are you? We can meet up with you."

Kyle glances at me at a red light as I say, "I'm with Kyle O'Reilly right now. He's bringing me home from Roderick Strong's house."

Dakota is silent on the other line before she yells in my ear, "You're with Kyle?"

I pull the phone back from my ear then say, "He's just driving me home because I fell asleep at Roddy's."

She says, "Well shit. I didn't think you would ever get in a car with him."

"Life's crazy," I say, sarcasm laced in my voice. "Look, I'm tired tonight but we can go out tomorrow, okay? I just want to go to sleep."

Dakota says, "I'll pick you up at eight tomorrow night then. Goodnight and don't let the bed bugs bite."

I smile and say, "Goodnight, Dakota." She hangs up and I tuck my phone in my pocket. I sigh softly.

Kyle pulls up to my apartment building and says, "Your Uber has arrived at your location. How many stars are you going to give me?"

"You're so weird," I say, laughing and getting out of the car.

He gets out of the car and walks around to me. "So five stars?" he asks.

I look up at him and say, "Maybe four and a half."

Kyle pretends like I just hurt him and says, "Ouch. Why the four and a half?"

"You're still trying to earn that last half," I tell him. He smiles down at me.

After a moment, Kyle hands me my car keys and says, "I'll earn that last half one day. Maybe not anytime soon but I will."

I lock my car and put my car keys in my pocket and look up at Kyle. "I lied to Dakota, by the way," I admit. "I'm not really that tired. I was actually probably going to have a glass or two of tequila before I actually sleep. Would you, um, want to have a drink or two with me upstairs?"

The wheels turn in Kyle's head before he says, "I have to drive home when I go pick up my car so it wouldn't be the best idea tonight. Maybe one night next week I can stop by for that drink or two."

For some reason, I'm kind of sad that he's not going to stay. He's also right. He does have to drive home when he picks up his car and he shouldn't drive home after drinking, even if a glass or two.

"Yeah," I say. "Okay. I'll, uh, see you on Wednesday at work."

Kyle says, "I'm going to the Performance Center to train on Monday. I'll be there around ten that morning if you want to come by and train with me."

I smile and say, "I'll think about it. Either way, I'll see you next week because if I drunk call you again tomorrow, you're not showing up. Okay?"

He laughs and says, "I won't show up. I promise. Maybe I won't even answer the phone."

"That's probably a good idea," I giggle.

After a second, Kyle says, "I'm gonna call the Uber now."

I say, "Yeah, I'm going to head inside. Stay safe getting home, Kyle."

Kyle jokes, "Oh, you do care about me."

I stare up at him and say, "Just because I was mad at you, doesn't mean I didn't care about you."

A smile forms on Kyle's lips and he says, "Was."

"What?" I ask, confused.

Kyle says, "You said 'I was mad at you'. Not that you were mad at me."

I let out a breathy laugh and say, "Don't change that, O'Reilly. Get out of here." I push him gently away from me, jokingly. He grabs my hand and his eyes meet mine. Suddenly, that light air between us turns thick.

He's quiet before he asks, "Can I, um, kiss you?"

Instead of responding to him, I lean my head up and kiss him softly. He hesitates but kisses me back. Then Kyle's phone rings, making us both jump. He pulls back and looks at his phone. I see Roddy's contact name on his phone and I say, "Answer him and call an Uber. I'll maybe see you on Monday if I decide to show up to train with you."

Kyle says, "I'll see you on Monday maybe." I smile and kiss his cheek.

"Goodnight, Kyle," I say, walking away. I almost run upstairs to my apartment because I need to get away. Yet, that doesn't stop me from going out to my balcony to see if I can see Kyle. The wind whips through my hair as I look over the railing. I see Kyle get into a jet black car and I watch him drive off.

I should not be kissing Kyle like I am dating him. I can't be kissing Kyle like I am dating him. I'm not dating Kyle. I will not date Kyle again. Not after what he put me through.
