"Huff... Huff..." I heavily panted as I ran for my life but no matter how hard I tried to outrun it, it seemed like I was not going any further. I was stuck and I could still hear the devilish laughter of the person that continues to chase me.

I looked for a place to hide but everywhere I turned to it was dark. There was no place for me to hide and I needed to hide!

Run! Run! My mind only processed thoughts of me running, so I ran towards the dark, narrow alley. I had no choice at all- I couldn't even see where exactly I was heading to or what was stumbling by. All I knew for certain was that I needed to escape from someone who wants me dead. I don’t know how long I have been running but the pain spreading on my legs only enforced the thought that I had been running for some time; I was just hoping to see some light. Just as when I could no longer run, I saw a light! It shone like the sunrise to me. I was relieved how quickly blackness fades away with even the slightest bit of light. My fear started to ease away upon seeing the glow so I gave it my all to continue running. I smiled as I knew that I was finally getting out of the dark and narrow alley. I would be safe but as soon as I was about to reach the light’s location, a dark figure appeared in front of me blocking the way. I instantly stopped and the smile on my face dropped in dismay. I fell on my knees as I knew that my end is just seconds away.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" the man laughed at me in a very frightening tone. I couldn't see his face as I did my best to at least identify who he was before he could take my life. He stretched out his hand and pointed something at me- placing it close to my forehead. I instantly panicked when I came to realize that he was actually pointing a gun at me.

"Please spare me!" I desperately begged for my life as I moved my head away from the weapon. I couldn’t die. I couldn’t die!

"Spare you? No! You're coming with me to Hell Jake!" the man shouted at me and after a second pause, he pulled the trigger. I saw fire come out from its barrel- everything happened so quickly. I fell facedown unaware where he had shot me- it wasn’t my head. Where? Where! I couldn't see anything anymore so I just eased my mind with thoughts of things that I might not be able to do again. The man approached me, slowly bending to my level on the ground before whispering to my ear.

"Now, you'll see darkness for E-TER-NI-TY!" having to hear that I was indeed dying completely shattered my hope. I cried out in agony as I closed my eyes and waited for the warmth to leave my body.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I woke up panting heavily and I could feel beads of sweat running down my chest and back. I couldn't believe that everything I dreamt was only a nightmare but the hopelessness I felt in my dream seemed to transcend to me even conscious.

"What was that? It was such a bad dream." I thought as I covered my face with my hands. I tried to pull myself together and pretend that everything was truly okay when I remembered about my discoveries of the brown book I bought. So I hurriedly prepared to go to work as I recalled that I needed to show the book to Adie. I grabbed the brown book as soon as I was ready and drove my way to my workplace.

I don't know if I was driving faster than usual, or if I was just lucky that traffic today wasn’t as bad as other mornings. As soon as I arrived at the building, I hurriedly ran towards my office. I didn't even get to greet Filo back as I heard him greet me like usual. The only thing that was running through my head was that Adie surely needed to see the brown book I was holding.

A few employees had already arrived at the office by the time I entered my floor but there was no sign of Adie.

"He must be at my office again." I told myself and so I hurriedly entered my office and luckily he was there, sitting on top of my desk, seeming a little bit down.
