"Adie! Stay attentive and search for Wisdom!" I shouted at Adie before we parted our separate ways.
"No problem! I'll call you if I find her!" Adie saluted dramatically before he disappeared in the wave of the crowd. I, on the other hand, kept a hold of the book and walked the opposite way. Most of the time, I would bump into people and it was difficult to move as freely as possible, but it didn't bother me.
As I kept up with my search for Wisdom among the crowds, I began to doubt my abilities in being able to identify Wisdom among the sea of people. I felt as if I was searching for a needle in a haystack, but knowing that- finally- I was one step closer in solving my problem, I didn’t waste my time being pessimistic. I wouldn’t mind looking through a haystack if that meant my freedom.
"Why do they keep placing the bookstore in the most inappropriate places?" I protested baffled by the new location. "They could have just relocated at the mall or something. where it's easier to find."
About an hour later, I might have been throughout the entire park, but I hadn't seen any signs of Wisdom or the bookstore. Maybe I was wrong in thinking that it really was Wisdom that I saw on the television. I was losing hope and I was becoming quickly discouraged by my lack of findings- not to mention I was getting tired, so when I saw a bench unoccupied, I approached it to sit for a while. While sitting, I glanced at the people happily enjoying their time at the park.
Would they still be happy if they also experienced what I was going through? Would they be able to smile and laugh? Or what if everyone knew their own destination and it was the same as mine- would they be as desperate as me? Why me? Among all the seven billion people in the world, why am I able to experience all these things? What was the reason of me knowing that I was destined for damnation, yet I couldn’t find answers.
More and more I felt my whole world collapsing, the burden heavier and my hopes shattered. Mindlessly, I opened the book and I again witnessed how each word was magically written on the blank page. Yet, when the words losing hope were being written, I panicked.
"No. I should not lose hope!" I told myself as I closed the book and stood up. Then, my phone rang and when I reached for it, I saw that it was Adie.
Instantly, my hope shot back up, and I immediately answered his call.
"Adie, did you find her?" I excitedly asked Adie who kept silent for a while but I could hear his deep breathing from the other end of the line. "Hey! Won't you talk?" I stood up since I was getting anxious waiting on Adie to speak.
"Ah-uhmm sorry for that! But yes, I found Wisdom!" Adie struggled a bit since he was obviously panting.
"Where?"
"Uhm... Let me remember...so I bumped into a couple of thugs and they threatened me so I ran as fast as I could and stopped when I accidentally saw Wisdom." Adie said quickly without a pause.
"So where is she?" I insisted.
"I don't know exactly... but I can describe the location."
