Nine

We made up as easy as that. The misunderstanding wasn't clarified but I rather settle for that than embarrassingly admit that I got jealous.

Muli akong bumisita sa condo niya kinabukasan. Naikuwento ko kasi sa kanya yung nakita kong street food last week. I saw it on my way to pick up Georgina on her part time job. May food stall malapit lang sa canteen na pinagtatrabahuhan niya at doon ko nakita ang iba't ibang hindi familiar na street food. Kakain nga sana kami doon kaso nag-alala si Georgina na baka sumakit ang sikmura ko sa ganon.

"She said it was fishball and kikiam. Then there are also squid balls." Kuwento ko kay Dark. "Though I don't know how that white round ball is made out of squid, and the alien spaceship-shaped thing is made out of fish."

Humalakhak siya. Naaaliw niyang hinawi ang humabang side bangs ko. Now that I noticed it, It's been a while since I visited the salon. I should get my usual hair trim and treatment. I should also get a spa! Isama ko kaya si Georgina?

"Hey, what are you thinking?" Pinitik ni Dark ang noo ko.

Ngumuso ako at sinamaan siya ng tingin. Nang-aasar ang ngisi niya sa akin. We are here on his living room. Parehas kaming wala ng schedule, so we're getting cozy here on his unit. May isang klase pa dapat ako pero nagkaroon ng emergency ang Professor ko kaya wala kaming meeting today. Instead of calling for my driver, Dark suggested that I stay with him here until it's time for me to go. Para mapagluto niya daw ako nung mga street food na gusto ko.

Pumayag ako kaya heto kami ngayon. Katatapos lang namin magtanghalian kaya nagpapahinga muna kami dito sa living room niya. Mamayang meryenda na daw namin gagawin yung street food. For now we're watching an action movie. Nagulat pa nga si Dark dahil hindi niya inaakala na nanonood ako ng action movies. Wala daw sa itsura ko. I just laugh at him when he said that.

"If you're John Wick, will you also take revenge on the person who stole your car and killed your dog?" I asked him out of the blue during our movie marathon.

Nasa kalagitnaan na kami ng palabas na John Wick. It really amased me how much he loves his wife, kaya hindi ko napigilang tanungin si Dark kung parehas sila ng pag-iisip ni John Wick. I think it's cool.

"Well..." Umayos siya ng upo paharap sa akin. "I'm very possessive with the things I own, so maybe? I never had something I really cherish, taken away from me." At ngumisi siya. "And I hope it never happens to me."

"Yeah, that's just so cruel. I hope so, too."

The movie ended at the exact time for meryenda. Nagluto si Dark at ako naman pinapanood ko lang siya. Sabi niya baka matalsikan ako ng mantika kaya hindi niya na ako pinapalapit doon. The food was easy to cook so we ate not long after. It was delicious! Nagbago ang paborito ko, at naging fishball 'yon. Kwek Kwek went down on top two, and my top three is barbeque!

Magmula no'n ay halos araw araw na ako sa unit ni Dark. Tuwing tugma ang schedule namin, susunduin niya ako sa klase ko at dadalhin sa unit niya. Minsan naman ay sinasamahan niya ako kapag may kailangan akong bilhin sa mall o kaya naman may dapat akong puntahan. Siya din ang naghahatid sundo sa akin sa mga group meetings na dinadaluhan ko, tapos susunduin na lang ako ng Driver namin sa school.

Marami akong bagong naranasan kasama siya. Lahat ng mga ipinagbabawal ng magulang ko noon, ay pinaparanas niya sa akin. Even going to Divisoria, a popular market for cheap items!

"Why can't I buy clothes here? It's cute and cheap! I want to buy something." I lamented when he stopped me from getting a cute dress from one of the stores we went to.

Kanina pa kami nag-iikot at sobrang daming tao, kaya halos nakayakap na siya sa akin para lang maprotektahan ako at hindi ako madikitan ng iba. We are wearing simple shirt and pants, na binili pa namin sa mall dahil masyado daw magarbo ang suot ko sabi niya. I wasn't wearing anything glamourous, though! It was just a Chanel partner skirt and top, and a Balenciaga shoes. Pinagpalit niya ako ng shirt and pants from a brand called H&M. Iniwan din namin ang Gucci bag ko sa condo niya, kaya wala tuloy akong dalang gamit!

"I'll just make utang to you, can't I?" Nakangusong sabi ko pa.

Natawa siya kaya napatingin sa amin ang sales lady na nasa gilid lang.

"Ma'am, Ser, Bili na kayo! 350 lang 'yang pink na dress, bagay na bagay sayo yan, Ma'am!"

Mas naingganyo tuloy akong bilhin ang dress dahil sa sinabi ng sales lady. I tug Dark on the shirt and give him a puppy eyes. Nagpacute ako ng todo para lang bilhan niya ako.

"Sige na, please? I want that dress as a souvenir!"

"What if you get allergies from the fabric?"

"Let's just watch it properly. Pretty please?"

Bumuntong hininga siya. "Fine."

I squealed. Niyakap ko pa siya sa sobrang tuwa ko, na ikinailing niya lang. He hug me back on my waist as he talk to the sales lady about the dress. Maya maya pa ay inilagay na ng sales lady ang dress sa isang puting plastic bag at inabot kay Dark. 

"They don't have paper bags? Ask the sales lady for one." Kuryosong bulong ko habang nag-aantay kami ng sukli. "It's economically wise."

Tumawa siya at pinisil ang ilong ko. Nalukot ang mukha ko at sinamaan siya ng tingin. Sinubukan ko pa kumawala sa bisig niya bilang protesta, pero mas niyakap niya lang ako.

"You spoiled rich girl. They use plastics here because it's cheaper, and don't call her sales lady. Tindera ang tawag sa kanila dito. Although it's the same, it sounds friendly that way."

Nakasimangot akong tumango. "Fine. But I'm not spoiled!"

"Alright." Bigla niya akong kinabig at hinalikan sa noo. "Let's go home now. I'll cook your favorite."

I smile excitedly and nod my head. Binaliwala ko na ang pang-aasar niya. Nasanay na talaga ako sa kanya, maging sa ginawa niyang paghalik sa noo ko. He had done that a couple of times already. Nung una ay nagulat at natulala talaga ako, but now I'm fine with it. I even find it sweet of him... and very attractive. I think I'm having a deep admiration over him now. Lalo na sa mga akto niya ngayon. Mas lalong nahuhulog ang loob ko.

Umuwi na kami sa unit niya. He made me take a shower and change my clothes since we just came from a very crowded place. Pinasuot niya sa akin ang t-shirt at shorts na binili din namin sa H&M kanina, while he wash the clothes I wore on his laundry room, kasabay nung damit ko bago kami nagdivisoria.

Today is one of the days we are both free for the whole day. Nagsinungaling lang ako sa driver ko na may group meeting ako buong maghapon kaya nakalabas ako. These days, my parents are always out of the country because of some business, so I have the freedom to go anywhere I want without them interrogating me about it.

"Do you want to sleep? You look tired."

Dumapa ako sa higaan ni Dark at maamong tumango. Nandito kami sa kwarto niya dahil dito niya ako pinaligo. Wala kasing toiletries sa bathroom niya sa guestroom kaya ang kaniya ang pinagamit niya sa akin.

"I'm tired of walking all morning." Tinatamad na reply ko. "Can I really sleep here? Just wake me up before 5 PM. I told my driver to pick me up at five in school."

Lumundo ang kama sa pag-upo niya. I close my eyes when he tried to brush my hair with his fingers. He did it so softly that it tickles my scalf. Now I feel even more sleepy. I snuggle closer on him and close my eyes, feeling my consciousness drifting apart.  Gumalaw ang kama at naramdaman ko ang paghiga niya sa tabi ko. Hinila niya ako sa bewang at niyakap ng mahigpit.

Instead of feeling conscious about it, I move to get closer to him. Tumama ang ilong ko sa leeg niya, and just by his smell, I can feel myself relaxing. I heard him take a heavy breath on my hair, inhaling the shampoo that I just used. His shampoo to be exact.

"I love how you smell like me." He murmured on my hair.

I smiled and hugged my arm on his waist. "I love it, too. I hope we can be like this forever..."

Unti unti na akong hinila ng tulog, pero bago pa ako makatulog, narinig ko pa siyang bumulong ngunit hindi ko na naintindihan ang sinabi niya dahil ginupo na ako ng antok.

"I like you, Natalie... I like you so much."
