Eighteen

We decided to book a room at the nearest hotel because we are all tired from going around all day. It was already past seven in the evening when Neo got tired of playing around, so we had our dinner late at night. We ate on the same hotel we checked in. Isang room lang ang kinuha namin na may dalawang bed–one for Vincent and one for us. We were once married so it wasn't awkward to share a room with him. We also never got involved sexually since Vincent was only attracted to Easton even when we were still married. Kaya ayos lang na magkakasama na lang kami sa room.

I also feel safe this way.

"He's finally asleep. He was energetic all day." He caress my sleeping son's hair gently, brushing it out of his face.

Pagod akong ngumiti bilang response habang nagsusuklay ng buhok. We are all planning to sleep now but for some reason, I'm not sleepy anymore. Nagising ulit ang diwa ko matapos kong maligo. Vincent's question a while ago got me overthinking.

Compared to Switzerland, I admit there's a big chance that I might run into him here in Manila. We are hundred times closer and definitely have more risk of running with each other. Natatakot ako pero hindi ko naman pwedeng pabayaan ang kapatid ko.

She has nothing but me right now. Ayokong lumaki siya sa miserableng sitwasyon.

Dahan dahan akong bumangon sa kama. Ilang oras na ang makalipas pero hindi pa rin ako dinadalaw ng antok. Neo and Vincent are already asleep. I don't want to wake my son up because I keep tossing and turning. Magpapahangin na lang muna ako.

I'm only wearing a night dress so I grab a robe and put it over my dress. Tahimik akong lumabas ng hotel room at nagtungo sa elevator. I can unwind on the garden downstairs, but I prefer overviews so I pressed the button to the rooftop. It's already past midnight so I was alone throughout the ride. Hindi naman ako matatakutin kaya matiwasay akong nakarating sa rooftop.

And I'm so glad I went here when I saw the beautiful fairy lights on each fake trees standing here. There are also lanterns hanging around, and the place was so well lit even thought it's already late. May mga iilan na nakaupo sa mga bench na nandito at nagpapahangin din katulad ko. There are also couples, but there are no kids. I can also see a huge space with letter H painted on the ground.

I didn't know there's also a helipad here. It's amazing.

Sa isang sulok malapit sa helipad ako pumuwesto. It's less crowded on this part so I stay here until my face went cold. Tulala lang ako sa pamilyar na senaryo sa harapan ko. It's been a while since I've seen an overview like this. It's been  five years since I was in a city, even when I was still abroad. Wala akong panahon na gumala noong nasa law school ako. Last time I did was on my college graduation.

Marahas akong napalingon nang bigla akong kilabutan. The air is cold but this feels different. I feel like someone is staring at me so hard that it burns my back.

Nilibot ko ang tingin sa paligid ko at napansin ko na ako na lang ang nasa rooftop. It hasn't been that long since I stood here. Mas tumindi ang pagtaas ng balahibo ko. I feel like I'm suddenly in a horror movie scene. The people are gone like they run away from something, leaving me alone here as the sacrifice. Parang dumoble ang lamig ng paligid.

My instinct is telling me to get out of here and run. I feel like anyone will suddenly grab me and take me away. Like a ghost or a devil. I don't get scared easily but heck, I'm terrified!

They said women should always trust their instinct because most of the time, it saves them from good and bad situation.

I should've listened. I should've run. I should've forced my weak legs to escape! Because now, I'm being captive by a devil!
