Luckily today was a paperwork day, which I was excited about. I find paperwork relaxing. Since there was no case, I went into work a little later than usual. Feeling this was gonna be a good day, I decided to buy the whole team coffee, even Reid.

I arrive at the office with a tray of coffees in my hand and start passing them around to the team, "What's the occasion?" Derek asks with a chuckle.

"No occasion." I smile.

I get to the last cup and approach Reid who hasn't taken his eyes off his files since I got here. I place the cup on his desk and stand there patiently waiting for him to notice my presence. When he finally looks up, I point at the cup, he stares at the cup for a few moments, picks it up, acts like he's gonna take a sip, then chucks it into the trash can by his desk. I scoffed, "You're such a dick." I turn on my heels going back to my desk, I decide to look back and give him the finger.

"Real mature y/l/n."

I give him a condescending smile in return.

My phone kept ringing, I noticed Reid's huffing and puffing, finally, he decided to speak up. "Are you going to take that?" I look down at my phone, shocked as if I hadn't known it was ringing. "Uh no, I think I'm okay." He reaches over his desk onto mine, to grab my phone. I immediately swat it away, "don't touch my stuff."

"I wouldn't have to touch your stuff if you just shut it off." He clenches his jaw.

I grab my phone and put it in his face, "Does this bother you? I mess with him.

"It does actually."

"Well too bad!"

"Jesus, you to argue like a married couple." JJ intervenes. I make a face of disgust. "Married to him?" I let out a fake laugh. "Good jokes JJ, good jokes."

Reid narrows his eyes at me, "Oh, and you think you're any better? You're a nightmare."

"Oh, so you dream about me?" I place my elbows on my desk cupping my face and fluttering my eyelashes.

He rolls his eyes, "In your dreams, Y/L/N."

I get out of my chair, taking my phone with me, and head to the empty hallway. I look at the missed caller I.D's and lo and behold it's my unrighteous mother. I let out a frustrated groan. I call back, on the second ring, she picks up.

"Jesus, y/n do you ever pick up the phone."

"Actually, I have a job that requires my full attention, sorry I can't call you every moment of the day mother."

"You still have that silly job?"

"Yes because catching serial killers is a silly job. Did you only call to insult my job, or what?"

"Are you coming home for your birthday?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because I have work."

"Chris would want you to come."

"You don't know what he'd want."

"I do know what he'd want he was my son y/n"

"Okay mom, bye."

"Goodbye-"

Before she could say anything else I hung up, in this very moment I wanted to strangle my mother with my bare hands. I run my hands through my hair, turn around to go back to my desk when I see Reid leaning up against a wall with his arms crossed.

"Family issues?" He says in a patronizing tone. I shove past him, "Fuck off."

He follows behind me, " I mean I get it, actually I don't because not all of us have multi-billionaire parents. What did mommy and daddy not buy you a pony?" He makes a fake sad face.

"No, actually I asked for a unicorn, but they're out of stock." I shrug my shoulders trying to show Reid that he can't get under my skin.

I hear him scoff, and mumble something under his breath. I sit back down and complete the rest of my paperwork.

A few hours later I finish my last file and turn it into hotch. I pack up my belongings and head for the elevator. Just as It's about to close I manage to slip in. Immediately regretting that decision. I see Reid leaning against the back wall with a book in hand. "I should've taken the stairs," I mumble.

"What was that?" He inquires.

"Nothing"

Just as the elevator dings open, we both try to leave causing our shoulders to touch. I shove him off and wander to my car. I unlock my car, get in and start the engine.

On the drive home, I noticed the roads weren't busy at all, which I found strange. Once I arrived home I parked my car in the drive away and went inside. I strip off my coat and booties, placing my keys in the bowl by my front door that contains random objects.

I throw my bag on the couch and go upstairs to my bedroom. I change out of my work clothes into some pajama pants and an oversized t-shirt. I go into the bathroom to the bathroom do my night routine and lay in bed. Maybe tonight I'll get more than 3 hours of sleep.

I didn't.
