Third person POV

The team appears from the corner it had been 1 week  since they had last y/n. The moment they realized she didn't make it to work the next morning they knew something was wrong. It was unlike y/n to miss work. Hotch always had to force her to take days off.

"Y/N Y/L/N" Hotch tells the nurse when he reaches the counter.

"Are you family?" She asks.

"Yes," he replied quickly.

She nods and waves them over to follow her to y/n's room. When they get they she's stands in front of her room, she turns and faces them, "She is stable and we were able to repair all of the injuries,  but when she came in she was extremely violent and agitated. The combination of extreme exhaustion, dehydration, and lack of food has seemed to have put her in a state"

"What kind of state?" Derek asks.

"We assume it's reactive psychosis" She reads through y/n's chart, "Oh and one more thing, When she came in she was screaming the name Spencer" This causes a shock to the whole team.

"What the hell happened to her?" Derek asks Emily. He murmurs as he takes out his phone and dials Spencer's number.

They all watch her through her room window. Y/n stared back. She hated the way they stared at her like an animal locked behind a cage. They pitied her. The looks of sympathy alone made her want to rip their faces off. She noticed Spencer wasn't there, she wondered if they knew he was dead if they'd found his body yet. Maybe they hadn't even noticed he was gone.

She hated the way the restraints felt, they were itchy, and her nurse was bitch. They sedated her and gave her pain medication even though she denied it, she scratched the nurse that's why they put her on restraints. She also heard the doctor talking about moving her to the psych ward, she didn't want that. They'd pump her full of antipsychotics and keep her there forever.

She noticed Derek step to the side, and Penelope started crying and JJ comforted her. She saw everything.

The image of Spencer dying played on repeat through her head. He occupied her thoughts every single day. He was everywhere and now he was standing in front of her. She was seeing him again, she convinced herself.

Spencer arrived he was hesitant to enter the room, he didn't know what to expect.

When he reached for her hand, that earned a response from her. A violent one. She tried to claw him causing him immediately step back.

"Are you sure she was calling my name?" He asks the nurse.

"Positive" he sighs in return, why would she be saying his name, Spencer thought to himself.

He takes a seat back on the bed, and stays in her line of vision, "Y/n it's me, Spencer"

She has no reaction.

"Take the restraints off" he demanded.

"Spence, I don't think that's a good idea," JJ said.

"Take them off now!" He told the nurse.

The nurse carefully approached her, and undid the restraints, and stepped away quickly.

As soon as her hands were released she tried to claw at Spencer, he caught her hands and forcefully moved them to her side, holding them in place, "Y/n, Y/n, Stop!" But she continued to squirm under his grasp.

One week later

"Hey, Y/n!" Penelope approaches her with flowers. She brings y/n flowers every couple of days. Penelope visits her the most, the rest of the team can't bear to see her like that. But Penelope visits her every day after work. She sits and talks for hours till visiting hours are over.

Spencer pays him a visit every now and then, but he hates it because he has no idea why y/n is calling his name. She hurled a vase at his head the last time he came to visit, which she fortunately missed, but now they keep the restraints on all the time.

They've discussed committing her to a psych ward, but Hotch refuses. At the very least, they have hope.

Derek doesn't visit at all, not since y/n almost decapitated Spencer with a vase. He claims to be preoccupied with work, but in fact, he simply does not want to see her in this state.

Hotch visits her as much as he can, he sits beside her and tells her about cases, they've had, filling her in, so when she does get better she'd be all caught up. He even brings her those fruit snacks she loves so much, even though she won't actually eat them.

Spencer won't admit it, but a part of him blames himself for this; perhaps if he hadn't been such a dick and pushed y/n away, they wouldn't be in this position. Maybe if we had simply shaken her hand the first time they met.

He never did actually hate her, he's just so used to everyone abandoning him, he didn't want to get hurt again. He figured Y/n would just leave like everyone else. Elle, Gideon, his father, they all left and never looked back.

Reid entered her room, after work. He brought flowers like she doesn't already have enough. He sat beside her and pulled out a book "Great Expectations by Charles Dickens" he thought maybe he could bore her to death with this book. He knew you'd hate this book.

Several boring chapters later, Spencer had begun to pack up to head home. Just as he was about to get up, Y/n placed her hand on top of his and squeezed it. Spencer looked at her shocked.

"You're dead" she mumbled.

Spencer furrows his eyebrows.

Dead?

"No, no, no I'm right here" he placed his other hand on top of hers.

"I saw you... die" she rolled her head towards him and smiled slightly, "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For letting you die" a single tear rolled down her face, as she turned back around.
