Retro's POV

I was just finishing setting up for the festival when I felt a hand on my shoulder

""you've done a great job with Young Kagayaku, Young Otoko, or should I say, Master Otoko"

I knew that voice

Sun's POV

Hau and I were waiting on Gladion to go to the festival

"well, Bro, how do you like it?" Hau asked me

"eh, it's fine, I like it, just haven't gotten much done, I've been training for the league" I replied

"brother, asshole, I'm here" Gladion spoke as he came up to us in a black kimono, he looked at me, in my Decidueye kimono and Hau in his Raichu kimono

"hey man," Hau and I both replied

"where's Retro? I thought he was gonna meet us here" Gladion said

"I guess not, he's probably got something going on" Hau replied

"I'm right here, I had a small inconvenience on the way" Retro scared the shit out of Hau by appearing a few feet behind him

"what do you mean 'Small Inconvenience'? you're like 10 minutes late" I say as I see a red haired man holding a staff, in a white and red robe

"I'm guessing you're the Sun Kagayaku Young Otoko mentioned, my name is Alder, I'm the former Unova League Champion, and the current champion's teacher"

"that's me,"

as we walked, the streets were lit up with lanterns

"so Alder, why'd you come to Sokoku?" I asked

"I wanted to see if Retro's still using what I taught him," he grunted "through his letters he told me about you, you've been learning?"

"yeah somewhat-" I was cutoff by Retro

"Alder, let's talk about that later, let's just enjoy the festival!"

Alder nodded

soon the festival was over, with Retro's brother being announced as the Erukusu Gym Leader, we went back, and fell asleep

I had made plans to go fishing with Alder

Retro's POV

I had gotten a call from my Uncle Kazake, the chairman of the league down here, so I made my way to the league office. when I got to Kazake's office, he buzzed me in

"I got your message, Uncle"

my uncle turned in his seat

"so you heard about Hauringu, good" he grunted "he's gonna be the next champion, so I want you-" I cut him off

"you want me to purposefully lose so Hauringu can take my spot" I sighed

"our monthly viewers and attendance has been going down, your not as famous as you used to be."

"that's not happening, if I lose, It's not gonna be because I was ordered to because one of my sponsors told me I needed to"

"well if you're not gonna lose, I'll cut you from the league sponsors"

"do it, I've got bigger sponsors, the PML is one of em" I rebutted "I didn't become a trainer because I wanted the fame and fortune, I became a trainer it's what I wanted to do, the fame and fortune"

"then I'll release your secret romance with a certain champion of sinnoh, the press would be all over it"

"the press already know, they caught us one time in Twinleaf"

"fine, if you win, I'll have your title revoked"

"and I'll have you sacked, it says in the code, that the chairman cannot remove the current champion from his position without viable evidence to do so"

Sun's POV, the next day

"so, Sun, what aspired you to be a trainer?" Alder asked me while casting his rod

"I don't know really, I'm from Kanto, and everyone in Kanto becomes a trainer at the age of 11, so, I kinda just did that" I replied

"ah, what about your reasoning of becoming champion?"

"I had an idol back when I was young, his name was Red, he was the kanto champion when I was a kid, I've always respected him, even when I beat him at the Battle Tree"

"aiming to the best, that often sets people on a path of greatness, but there's a difference between those who aim for the top, and those who decide to settle, and that difference is exponential, the reason my student is at the top, is because he kept the idea in mind that he would one day have to settle," he sighed "now, young Kagayaku, which one are you?"

"I don't know, during my island challenge, I wanted to be the best, but when I became champion, it all really stopped"

"you're on a unique path, but, as you get older, your path will become clearer"

"alright, I'm gonna leave you to it, thanks, a lot, Alder-I mean, Master Alder"

"you're very welcome, also, I'm excited to see Retro face off against you"
