the preliminaries are here, I'm allowed one pokemon, the choice is obvious, Decidueye, Hau's probably gonna be using Raichu, while Gladion, I'm guessing Silvally. while Hauringu and Raibaru, I don't know.
we then walked into the arena
the countdown began and ended three seconds later, and we were released into the arena
seconds later a Hydriegon attacked Decidueye, I heard a voice I recognized
"who says I can't go after my rival in the preliminaries? not me"
it was Raibaru, I countered with Leaf Blade, but Raibaru got the upper hand and used flamethrower,
"hitmontop, use close combat!" the dust had cleared to reveal Hauringu
"thanks" I panted
"It's nothing, just make it out of the preliminaries alright? I'll see you in the league"
Retro's POV
I expected Raibaru to make a move like that, he did the same thing nine years ago, he removes the people he's gunning for in preliminaries, that way it's an easy win from then on. Hauringu's teaming with the people he's gunning for. he's always been about honor. Sun doesn't go down easily though, we battled once, and I won because Rayquaza fainted after his decidueye. Raibaru, is merciless, a veteran of the Sokoku league.
I had received a paper of the people most likely to make it to the championship bout, five names stood out to me
Raibaru, Jay: 50%
Kagayaku, Sun: 45%
Otoko, Hauringu: 45.5%
Aether, Gladion: 30%
Melemele, Hau: 25%
well hey, Sun's got good odds, worse than mine, but good for a first timer,
my odds to make it to the battle against my dad were 75% in my favor, that's broken league records for the highest winning odds.
Sun was doing quite well in the preliminaries, scoring elimination after elimination, but little did he know, the hunter was being hunted.
Raibaru was hot on his trail, but the preliminaries ended with Hau getting the last elimination.
Sun's POV
thank Arceus, the preliminaries are over, now, I'm waiting for the matchups of the semifinals.
"Sun!" I heard Retro's voice from behind me "great job in the preliminaries, but you have no idea what's next."
all of a sudden music from a big monitor started playing, and our faces appeared on the big screen
the matchups weren't that bad actually
