fourteen years old.
You had to sign up a week before the test, giving the people running it time to organize.
These days passed so slowly, I thought the hands on the clock of time were hitching a ride on a tortoise.
But after a long week of stealing and gambling, the day finally came.
I've worked up just enough money for the entry fee, five gold in a large assortment of coins. When I arrive at the school doors I hand the bag of coins to the guy at the door and he counts them before letting me in.
I can't believe it. After an entire year of constant practice, research, and saving, I'm actually here.

They have us stand in a large crowded room, waiting as each person got called out. I stand in a corner and everyone seems to give me a two foot radius. I just shrug it off and observe the room.
Most are cocky looking rich kids, and then there's also a good amount of nice looking rich kids, with about forty commoners out of the some hundred/two hundred kids in the room(and it was only the second day of testing, they did like five).
I wonder where that green eyed boy is? Maybe he's getting tested on a different day.
Everyone was chatting to one another, talking about who knows what. I certainly don't, even in my old life I was never popular so i have absolutely no idea.
The wrinkly old man who was calling out names came in countless times before my name was called. By now, there's about only fifty kids left. I follow the man, getting a fair amount of stink eyes and confused looks along the way which I completely ignore.
The man leads us down a thin hallway that took so many twists and turns I lose count. Eventually we come out into a small-ish courtyard with five doors which he directed each of us to one of. Mine is on the far right and as I walk through I find another room. It's fairly small, a single desk in the middle and a middle-aged woman sitting in a chair. She looks nice, nicer than most I've met in this part of the city.
It's full of questions like, where does mana come from in the body? (the heart. It's mixed with your blood.)
Who was the person who first came up with the theory of magic in the blood? (Alexandra Vishroune).
Questions like that.
I think I did fairly well, but I'm not going to know until they post it up next month. When I'm done, I'm sent to another room, a large stadium-like place. It really reminds me of a baseball stadium.
I used to love baseball, I was on two different teams and a lot of friends on both.
I shook myself out of my thoughts, I need to focus.
