Wilder's pov. 14.

I awoke the next morning in my bed, the new fancy one that we'd agreed would be mine. There was a heavy blanket on top of me and a faint light coming from the door.

. . . did he carry me here?

The thought made me blush and I shook it away.

Ellio's pov. 14 years old.

The wait to find out if we'd passed was torture. The white eyed boy agreed when I said this. In the meantime we hung out more and got to know eachother better.

Then, after who knows how long, the wait was finally over.

We found out that we placed eighth(him) and ninth(me).

Turns out, we're also roommates.

The place was huge. We explored and picked our rooms, I ended up with the one farthest from the entrance.

As I walked back into the living room I heard a mutter, "I havet seen anything like this since my last life."

What does that mean? I asked him and he said it was something his dad always said, kinda like the burning bridge thing.

I wasn't convinced. The way he said it didn't sound like... I don't know, but I'm just not convinced. But despite not believing it, I let it drop. He seemed relieved by this which only raised my suspicion.

We talked some more on the couch about whatever and as it was starting to get late he sighed and said "guess I'll stay here tonight and get my stuff tomorrow."

Then I remembered something I'd been meaning to ask. "why do you always leave before the sun sets?"

"Ah, well. You see, in the day, we rats can roam the city as we like and they can't do a thing. so as long as they dont catch us stealing, of course. But once the sun goes down, its free real estate. They can catch rats like me for money if we're even on the streets."

"Thats stupid."

"Yeah, sure is." he answered.

We exchanged more questions, him asking me about my home life and me asking in return about his.

I told him that I was the fourth child of six on a farm in shione, and he said he was the only child of his parents and lives in the slums.

And then, his head dropped to my shoulder.

I froze, unsure what to do. I soon realised he was sleeping and, despite my beat red face, put my arm around his shoulder. I sat like that, just enjoying it for a good while. Then, I decided I had to get back to the inn I was staying in.

So, I picked him up bridal style and carried him to his room. He was surprisingly light, but I suppose that's partly because he lived in the slums till now.

He looks so peaceful sleeping. He's got a fair amount of dirt on his face and really greasy hair that went to his shoulders in dark brown locks. I smiled, ignoring my blazing cheeks once more as I pulled the blanket over him, making sure he would be comfy.

Then, sighing, I put my shoes on and left for the inn.
