~Tyler's point of view~
I had let Josh in my shop. What was I thinking. I was thinking of how I was insanely in love with him. He smiled at me. "What would you like Josh?" I asked as he sat at a table. "I-.." He said, staring in front of him. It was silent and then he started to cry. He started to sob. I looked at him and our eyes met.
"Josh?" I called. He just laid his head down. His sobs became distant and I ran over to him. "Josh are you okay?" I asked and he shook his head against the table. "What's wrong?"
He lifted his head and our eyes met again. "I lost my job... and it finally sunk in that I have nobody." He said. He was lonely. Like me. I had a thought and then shot it down. I sat in front of Josh. "Want to tell me about your day then? Other than the worst part?"
Josh started to tell me about his whole day. His voice was so soothing that I found myself wondering if he was single. For a moment it was quiet. I started to yawn, exhaustion hitting in.
"I'm tired," it slipped out before I could stop it. "But I never got my coffee." Josh said to me, looking into my eyes. His eyes were like mocha. So pretty, so beautiful. "I just want to sleep," I said and laid my head down.
"Are you alright ty?" He asked me. "Mmm," I replied. Then my eyes began to feel droopy and everything went black.
----
I woke up on a brown couch. A couch the color of mocha. "AHHH-," I yelled as I fell off the couch. My head hit a coffee table. "Where am I?" I muttered. "You're at my house. I'm really sorry," Josh said appearing out of nowhere. "You passed out, and you looked so helpless. I couldn't just leave you there." He said, a coffee cup in his hands.
"You really can't deal without coffee, can you?" I said before I could stop myself. Josh looked confused and then looked at his hands, laughing. "Nope, can't live a moment without my caffeinated influenced life." He shot back at me.
"Mind making me a cup?" I asked and he shook his head. "Not at all, you do make me one everyday." Josh said, chuckling to himself. I giggled, hoping Josh didn't hear me, however he did. "Your laugh is adorable," Josh said. I blushed before I turned around, my knees on the couch facing him as the Keurig shot out coffee into a coffee cup.
"It's just normal Donut Shop coffee, black as my soul." Josh joked. "You made milk then?" I asked and Josh shot me a look of betrayal. "Ouch.. I'll try not to take that personally." He said to me. "I should dump this whole pot of sugar," He spoke, taking a container of sugar out of the cabinet, " in your coffee. Maybe that would make you sweeter."
I laughed, "I'm already too sweet Josh." I smiled at the older man, "Maybe you should give me a try." I winked. "I think I'll take that offer one day." He winked back at me. I fell onto the back, almost hitting the coffee table with my head, again.
I started laughing hysterically, my face red with blush and red with lack of oxygen. "Are you okay Tyler?" He called out to me. I didn't answer, I had no breath in me to answer. "Tyler?!" He called again. Again, I didn't respond. He ran over to me, then saw my red face and calmed down.
He sat in front of me on the floor as I fell to the ground. "I-can't-breathe-,"I wheezed. Josh grabbed me in his arms and it made me slowly calm down. I don't know the rhyme or the reason on why it calmed me down, but it did.
"Your coffee is going to get cold Tyler." He said to me. "Mmm," I muttered in his chest. "It can wait." I said louder to him. "Never," He replied, picking me up and bringing me into the kitchen. He set me on the counter and brought his eyes to my own.
"Hazelnut or vanilla?" He asked looking inside his fridge. "Hazelnut, please." I requested. "Ah, polite are we?" He teased, handing me the cup of coffee and bottle of creamer. Once I'd finished making my coffee the way I liked it I sipped it slowly.
Josh stared at me, his eyebrows raised slightly as if I wouldn't have noticed. He sat on the counter opposite from me. "What?" I asked, holding the still warm cup in my cold hands.
He opened his mouth and then shut it. As if a million things were going through his mind. "You're different," He said. "You say that like it's a bad thing," I replied to the older man. "It's not. It's just I don't know what to expect. I think you're going to do one thing. A- and you do the complete opposite." He spoke.
"Then stop expecting and you'll never be disappointed." I replied. "I was never disappointed. You're one of a kind. You're just different." He said, then looked down at the coffee. Then back up at me. "What you just said. It's completely wise- and with how stupid people are these days. I wouldn't have expected you to utter those words."
He stared at me again. "Those words came from your wise brain and left your beautiful mouth." He said and then shook his head. "Tyler- I- I have like, this massive crush on you." I could feel my face turning red as he spoke.
"I've never felt this strongly about someone. Like if I don't see your face every morning before I went to my old job. I'd just- just die. I needed you to talk to me and then my day would be complete. I think I love you. I-I know that's crazy. I've just been coming to your shop for a few years and we barely know each other and I'm sorry to just throw this all on you. I just." He stopped and I could feel my grip on reality, and the cup in my hand loosen.
"I just thought you should know." Crash. Went the cup. Crashing into the floor. Along with my thoughts and my grip on reality and everything I thought I knew.
