Iris let out a shaky breath and a steady stream of tears was going down her pretty face. All these memories clouded her mind and they were like chains that restrained her from being happy. The dark, sweaty, lust-filled, and jovial atmosphere hindered Iris from entering the bar. It practically screamed danger, she thought to herself. She never could understand how Brooke, her dear best friend, could stand such a heinous sight. Iris remembered the struggle of having to turn down the invitation of going to the bar for her 20th birthday.
"Come on, Iris! You have to go. This is the perfect time to let loose. You only get to turn 20 once," Brooke reasoned fiercely, fire burning in her eyes.
"So? I got to turn 18 once and I had a debut. It's practically the same so I don't see the need to go," Iris answered back exasperatedly, with a roll of her eyes.
"Po-tay-to, po-tah-to. I say we still go," Brooke insisted. God, was she stubborn, Iris thought and so she was left with no choice but to suck it up and deal with it because she was her best friend after all.
Not wanting her to be left alone with guys who may very well do unspeakable things to her best friend, Iris went with her to the bar with a heavy heart. Clad in their most revealing and eye-catching dresses, they went inside and fought their way through the throng of people. By the time they actually made it to the bartender, Iris' face almost received a black eye, Brooke got elbowed a thousand times and not to mention the groping they both endured. It was safe to say that the men who got a little handsy were dealt with accordingly, with the help of their iron knee caps which were struck in areas that did not shine. Iris let out a sigh, clearly showing her distaste about the whole situation and how she was tired of it all.
"We haven't even been here for like half an hour and you're whining like a dying cow," Brooke said with a roll of her eyes.
"Correction, we've been here for thirty-two minutes and twelve seconds. It's more than half an hour so, can we go home already?" Iris said with a Cheshire grin on her face. Brooke gave her a deadpanned look saying she was not impressed. How fun it was to mess with her.
"Oh shut it and drink this," Brooke handed her shots and leaving no room for arguments. "Cheers to the best day of your life! Happy 20th!" she shouted with glee and they both gulped down the shots, the liquid burning their throats. Adrenaline pumped in their veins as they made their way to the dance floor.
"Whoooooooh!" Iris shouted, flailing her arms as she danced to the beat.
"Yes, girl! Work it!" Brooke said, encouraging her best friend to live a little. They both looked at each other. Iris noticed Brooke's 90s moves and Brooke noticed Iris's awkward dancing. They both laughed at themselves. They looked ridiculous while dancing but it did not matter, they were having the time of their lives. With them busting out crazy dance moves, they drowned themselves in the upbeat music and the sea of sweaty and hypersexual people.
