40. go to her

ricky walked into the sugarhouse coffee shop to see his friends all seated in their usual space, making his way towards them.

he noticed maya and lucas seated on the couch in their own little world as he tried to take some of her food, her laughing as she tried to fight him off

"hey guys," he greets, grinning at lucas and maya who blush slightly before turning their attention to the others

"what took you so long?" carlos groans, earning a light nudge from seb "what? i'm hungry and he's paying."

ricky chuckles weakly and shrugs his shoulders "i just had some stuff to finish up at work..."

he looked around the group and towards the counter to see nini not there; again.

this past week, he'd wanted to see her and try and speak to her, tell her he didn't mean any of the bad things he'd said to her; but she never came to the coffee shop and she would always be somewhere he wasn't. he didn't message or call her because he wanted to speak to her face-to-face and he also knew she wouldn't answer. he was losing hope to savor any last bit of their friendship that there was because if she didn't even want to see him, what point was there? if she's not fighting either, how does anyone expect him to?

"she's at home," gina answers, noticing ricky searching the space

he glanced back at his friends and nodded in slight disappointment "right."

"you could go there and talk to her," seb suggests

"she doesn't want to see or hear from me." ricky replies

ashlyn frowns "ricky-"

"she's not here," he says "i don't know what-"

"oh for jupiter, mars, every single planet and thing in the universe and god's sakes!" lucas groans, catching everyone by surprise as their turn to look at him

"woah there edward cullen don't get your fangs in a twist," maya smirks, lucas rolling his eyes playfully before looking back at ricky

"what's your problem?" ej chuckles

"this whole situation." lucas answers "look, i know we haven't been as close as we were," he begins, looking at ricky "but i'm still your friend so i'm giving you my advice."

"and he can speak from experience too," carlos grins, earning a glare from ricky, maya and lucas at once which made his smile drop and his mouth closed.

"she wants you to reach out." lucas says after looking back at ricky "so why don't you simply just take your phone and message her,"

"because she's not going to answer," ricky says

"then go to her apartment," big red adds

"but she won't answer the-"

"then break down the freaking door! you have my permission!" maya exclaims

"uh-i'd like to keep the door-"

"gi, we have more pressing matters than a door right now," kourtney says

"the point is," lucas waves off "just stop being all mopey and do something."

ricky sighs, leaning back against his chair "what do i say?"

"well, first you can apologize," seb suggests

"and not the crappy apology you gave me in high school." gina adds "say the actual words 'i'm sorry'"

ricky fakes a laugh "very funny."

the girl returns an innocent smile as she leans her head against ej's shoulder before ricky takes a deep breath

"okay, i'll go later-"

"no, you're going now." ashlyn tells him

"what?"

everyone nods and looks at him with raised eyebrows, the boy taking a deep breath as he stands up, stopping in his tracks and turning to face them

"like now-?"

"go!" they all exclaim in unison, ricky groaning as he turns around, the nerves hitting him like a ton of bricks as he starts making his way towards nini's apartment.
