Charlie's POV

Rudy and I chose a table at the library, I may or may have not chosen it based on the girl at the table across from us but who knows.

Charlie: Yale is blue balling the absolute shit out of me.
Rudy: So move on.
Charlie: I can't. I love her.
Rudy: Yeah but you love hooking up too.
Charlie: Not as much as her.
Rudy: Okay well the face you're giving that cute girl over there tells a different story.

Rudy continued to look over his shoulder noticing the curly haired girl two tables across from us.

God she was cute.

Charlie: Her name's Keila. She's in my marketing class. She's so smart.
Rudy: And hot.
Charlie: And hot.
Rudy: Sooo you like her?
Charlie: I barely know her.
Rudy: Why are you wasting time with this chick who obviously doesn't share the same feelings when you could have one who looks at you like that.
Charlie: Yale is the one for me. I'm sure of it.
Rudy: I think she just might be a way of clinging to your childhood. It's fucked.
Charlie: It's not.
Rudy: Whatever. Your phone is buzzing.

I picked up my phone to see Sienna calling me.

Charlie: Weird. Sienna never calls me.
Rudy: ooooo whos Sienna?
Charlie: A lesbian.
Rudy: And that's my cue to leave. Tinder date.
Charlie: You don't date Rudy.
Rudy: Yeah that's why I only swipe right on the one's that have DTF in their bios.

Rudy picked up his books and left going the opposite direction of the exit but i like to avoid questioning the things he does.

Charlie: Hey Sea what's up?
Sienna: Can you get to Juilliard? Please? It's about Ben.
Charlie: What about Ben?
Sienna: I think I just shook his hand.
________________
2 years ago, my older brother Ben dropped out of college to do some non-profit work with his girlfriend Sierra. But after a few months of being there, they broke up. Ben was supposed to go home but he never came back. We notified the police and after they realized he was a 19 year old boy, they just laughed in our faces and closed the case.

"He's exploring his independence" they said.

I know Ben. He practically raised me. There's no way in hell he would just disappear without telling me. 2 years and still I haven't heard a thing. 2 years and I'm still listening for a call. 2 years and I'm still waiting for him to open the doors and tell me it was some kind of stupid prank. 2 years and mom wants to plan a funeral.
_______________
I bursted through the doors of Juilliard noticing Sienna waiting there for me.

Sienna: Charlie.
Charlie: Is it him?
Sienna: Charlie.
Charlie: IS IT HIM?

I turned the corner and was met with the blue eyes I recognized as my best friend.
I threw myself into his arms and he pushed me off like I was a stranger.

Charlie: Where the fuck have you been?
Sienna: Charlie.
Charlie: Sienna WHAT? I haven't seen my brother in 2 years! I just want a hug man.
Ben: I don't know who you are.
Rue: Sienna who is this?
Sienna: Just give him a moment. Charlie it isn't him. This is Andrew.
Charlie: No. This is Ben. Look.

I reached out for his arm revealing the tattoo he got when he was 15.

I pulled up my sleeve to show him mine.

We got these tattoos when I was in the 8th grade. You were a freshman. How could you not remember?

Ben: I don't know you.

Ben turned around and walked away from me like I was some kind of manaiac. My only brother leaving me. Again. Only this time, instead of there being no goodbye, it was a cold shoulder. A facial expression stating "get away from my crazy person." It was worse than him being missing.

Charlie: I need to call my parents.
Sienna: Yeah I'll call Ellie.
Charlie: Don't.
Sienna: She has a right to know.
Charlie: I said DONT Sienna. Keep Ellie out of this.
___________
I slammed my door and headed back to the house noticing Keila on my doorstep.

Keila: Hi.
Charlie: Are you looking for someone?
Keila: Yeah. You.

I felt my cheeks turn red.

Keila: You um. Left your house keys at the library.
Charlie: My keys are right here.
Keila: Really? That blonde guy you were with told me to give them to you.

I rolled my eyes thinking of Rudy trying to set me up.

Charlie: So do you take house keys from random strangers often?
Keila: Only the random strangers with the cute friends.

It's been a rough day and I need to let off some steam. I guess this is how I'm gonna do it...

Charlie: You wanna come in for a bit?
