Last song.

Let's make it count.

You know the drill. (don't play it yet)

"Jasper! Mommy and daddy are going to leave you with auntie Yale and uncle Charlie tonight okay?" Grace said wrapping her arms beneath Jasper's shoulders and embracing him in a hug.

He showed the brightest smile I'd ever seen.

Well actually I have seen it before.

On Charlie.

He was his fathers son after all.

"Yale."

"Yale!"

I woke up to the familiar smell of a hospital and felt the IV up my arm.

I hated it. I wanted it gone.

"Grace and Shane are going to be here in a few hours." Charlie whispered. "I feel like we should be the ones to make the decision on what we do with.. him."

Vinnie crossed his arms. "Yeah there's plenty of options."

"Yeah they have these little pods. They're amazing for the environment." Ellie chimed in.

"You put the um... the body in this capsule and it'll turn him into a.. a tree." Owen said clearing his throat.

"Yale. That sounds really nice." Charlie replied.

I was so stressed out, I didn't know what to do. This was my fault. I wasn't strong enough to give birth to an actual baby. What would we tell Grace. And Shane. They waited so long and they were so excited. And they want to talk about a burial that's "good for the environment"

"Yale."

"Can everyone leave please. I want to talk to Charlie for a minute."

Sienna reached out her hand hoping to comfort me but it just made me more upset. I was tired of feeling weak and helpless. "Go. Please."

Vinnie's POV

After Yale asked us to leave, we thought it would be best to grab some food. I could eat at the moment. I was too fucked up.

That could have been Casey.

I can't imagine how they're feeling right now.

I skulked the hallways until I found the room where they kept the babies.

They were so small and innocent... and clueless. Half of them probably won't even make it my age. Others could be the next Bill Gates.

The other could be a teen mom who just gave birth to a still born.

My eyes traced around the babies until my eyes landed on one.

One that looked like Casey.

He looked so much like Casey.

"Which ones yours?"

A woman with red curly hair stood beside me.

"Excuse me?"

"Oh I see him. He looks like you. My daughter just gave birth. She's 20. She lied to her boyfriend about it and won't let me see her or the baby. I found out from a nurse that he's somewhere in here but I don't know which one."

"Wow. That's a lot to unpack."

"I don't know what to do about her. We used to be so close and now she doesn't tell me anything. She full access to her trust fund and I never heard from her again until last night when she calls me and says mom I had a baby and Vinnie doesn't know. And I said-"
