Freddie's POV: His Old Apartment
"Wh- what?!? My dad?!?"
"Y- yes."
"He-... w-... I don't understand!!"
"Freddie, your father. He's an NCIS agent. He can help."
"But- I've never met him!! Why have you brought him up all of a sudden?! How come you never talk about him?!?"
"I know, Freddie. I'm sorry I have told you much about him. I am. And the reason I haven't is... because me and your dad didn't leave things on a good note."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, me and your dad divorced before you were born. That's why you never met him. And I changed my name back to Benson when we divorced."
"Why did you separate?"
"Because... well, it's wasn't my idea. It was his. He thought he couldn't handle having a kid, so he divorced me because he was scared and I raised you on my own. That's why I was so overprotective of you. Because I didn't think I could do it on my own. I was overprotective because I thought that's what I should have done."
"Mom, why didn't you tell me before? I would have let you do everything you did. I would've helped more. I'm sorry."
"It's ok, Freddie. I understand. I shouldn't have been that strict. I'm sorry."
We both laugh a little.
"So? What about Sam?"
"Oh, right. I mean, I can give you his number because I'm not talking. We haven't talked since the court session of our divorce. You can talk though."
"Thank you, Mom. I really appreciate it."
"You're welcome. Anything for you."
We both stand up and hug each other. Then I think to tell her about proposing to Sam. That'll make her REALLY happy.
"Hey, Mom?"
"Yeah?"
"I've something to tell you that I think you'll love."
"What?"
"Well, I'm planning to propose to Sam in the next few days."
"Really?! Oh Freddie! You're growing up! I'm so happy for you!!"
"Thanks, Mom! But until we get her back, we can't."
"Oh... sorry."
What I said brought me back to how I felt when I first found out she was gone. I can't think straight again.
"Freddie? Here's your father's cell number. You can call him now."
"Thank you"
I take the piece of paper out of her hand. And get my cell to dial the number. As I dial it, all I can think about is Sam. Where she could be and if she's ok. It takes me a while to get the motivation to press call, but I do it.
"Barry Gordon?"
"Hi, I'm Freddie. I need your help."
"Hello, Freddie. What can I help you with?"
"I need to track down my girlfriend. I think she's been kidnapped."
"Kidnapped? Where are you?"
"Seattle, Bushwell Plaza, 8 D."
"Ok, I'll be there in about 15 minutes."
"Ok, thank you. Bye"
He hung up. That was so weird. I mean, that was my dad. He's called Barry Gordon. And I'm gonna meet him for the first time, not in the best situation to meet him but at least I am. Sadly, that's what me and Sam had in common, not knowing our Dads. But now I know him and Sam doesn't know hers, I feel really bad now. Poor Sam.
