Damien
Damien ran a hand down his face before ending the call. Marcus was ordered to report to him daily seeing as he was Damien’s third in command and he was the one overseeing the training in Brazil. His head turned to look at Colten, who was waiting patiently, twisting a pen between his fingers.
“Two thousand more wolves have signed up,” Damien said.
“That’s great. It’s only been a day since we got the word out. Since you didn’t give a international command, I’d say the news is spreading pretty fast. Give it time - we can’t have the bloodsuckers or the humans finding out what’s happening,” Colten responded.
Damien huffed out a breath. He wanted it to go much faster than this so that Luca could be put at ease. Having Emelia at risk kept him so on edge that he hadn’t slept last night. He watched over her like a hawk while she slept. Every time she made the slightest noise, his eyes would shoot to her. He knew Luca would rest easier if he held her in his arms, but Damien didn’t want to cross that boundary without her consent.
“Once each wolf arrives, they train non-stop for a week. Then they are transported here so that they can be on hand if the fight breaks out. They’ll sleep in their wolf form on the palace grounds, but we need more necessities such as water and food. I need you to get on that,” Damien commanded.
“Oh come on, Damien, the Luna usually takes care of those sort of things. You know Emelia would be happy to help. I’ll do anything to not have to go to the store,” Colten pled. Damien knew he could use Colten on the training grounds for the Royal Pack, but it wouldn’t kill him to do a little shopping, either.
Truth be told, the alpha knew very well that Emelia should be the one doing such tasks but he could barely stand her being out of the room – there was no way he was going to let her go off palace territory.
“She stays here,” Damien grumbled angrily. And as the words slipped out of his mouth he detected a small heartbeat on the other side of his office door. Emelia turned the handle and sauntered in, looking between the two men.
“Oh, did I interrupt something?” Emelia bit her lip with her eyebrow raised, looking at Damien. Her eyes flickered to Colten as he answered her.
“Nothing much. Just Damien stopping you from performing your Luna duties. No big deal,” Emelia’s teeth dropped her bottom lip as her mouth opened in shock.
“Damien!” Emelia’s eyes turned to his and she looked mighty displeased, “Colten, what is it that needs doing?”
“We need food and water and a lot of it. The trained wolves are staying here after their visit to Brazil, so we need to accommodate them.”
Emelia nodded, about to turn around and leave but Damien’s chest rumbled ferociously, “You are not leaving!”
“Damien, let me do this. I’m perfectly capable of going grocery shopping,” her hand rested on her hip.
The chair was pushed back as the alpha stood up, crossing the room to his mate, “Technically you aren’t Luna yet, so you don’t have any duties.”
