Damien
“Alpha?” A small voice echoed through the office, causing Damien to move his gaze upward. He saw one of the human servants standing there, her hands behind her back and her breasts pushing outward.
“Yes?” He responded, eyeing her chest.
“The Beta and Gamma would like to see you,” Her voice shook as she spoke the words and her eyes focused on the floor.
“Let them in,” His gruff voice signaled her to leave the room in search of the other men. Damien sorted through the papers on his desk, his frustration growing with every new word he saw. He couldn’t stand being confined to his office all day, and neither could his wolf, Luca.
“Hello, Damien. How are you today?” His beta, Colten asked with an annoying grin. Damien met his eyes and instantly Colten knew it wasn’t the right time for chit chat.
“What the fuck are you two doing in my office? What is so dire this time?” Damien growled, focusing on his computer instead of his pack members.
“The vampires aren’t slowing down like we had assumed they would,” Marcus, his general and gamma, spoke up, “Instead they’ve taken over more countries and more humans are dying than anyone could have anticipated,” Damien rolled his eyes.
“I know you two are concerned for the human population, but trust me, there enough humans to go around to meet our needs. A few thousand in east Africa dying won’t hurt us,” Damien grumbled, finally meeting the two men’s gazes.
“We aren’t worried about the humans for the sake of our own needs. People are dying! Innocent lives are at stake! The death tolls are nearly doubling every day, Damien, and you think we are only concerned because we need someone to clean the pack house?” Colten was livid, Damien could tell. He sat back in his chair and sighed.
“What would you like me to do?” Damien questioned, leaving silence in the air just waiting to be filled with a suggestion.
“We need to go up there, sir. With the vampires killing all of these people, they could acquire more land than we want them to have. This isn’t a normal feeding for them. They are planning something, Alpha,” Marcus’s voice grew harder at the end of his sentence.
Damien put his hand to his forehead, thinking, “Do you think they are conspiring with the demons again?”
“Anything is possible, Alpha,” Marcus spoke. It was settled as soon as those words left his mouth. Damien knew he had to settle things in east Africa now before they got too out of hand.
“We shall leave tomorrow. Inform all surrounding packs of our arrival; I want our men housed and fed as soon as we arrive. Let them know that their armies will be requested if necessary,” Damien commanded, “You may leave,”
At his alpha’s dismissal, Marcus fled the room. Even he wasn’t courageous enough to look Damien in the eye for too long. Colten, however, had no problem with it.
“What’s our plan if the demons are getting involved again?” Colten moved over to the leather chair that was placed on the other side of his desk. Damien closed his eyes, exhausted from thinking so hard for so long. He hadn’t slept in days seeing as he had put off too much work in the past month visiting other packs. Everyone requested his presence in time of need. Some needed money, others needed guidance, but either way Damien had to attend to it.
