Chapter 7

It's been almost two weeks since Val questioned Luke and I. I'm not 100% convinced she believes that it's nothing. Luke and I have been trying to keep our distance from each other. But it's hard to. Everytimes I see him we try not to make eye contact but we can't help it. We both glance at each other and I get caught up in his crystal blue eyes and I just want to run up and kiss him but I know I can't. He's Val's older brother and dating Luke would ruin our friendship and if Luke and I ever broke up, thing would just be too awkward.

It was still rainng outside Val and I were downstairs and we had been watching tv all day. Luke was upstaris, alone writing some new songs. Val and I were sick of watching tv and there was nothing good on. "Ash, how about we bake some cookies?" "Sounds good to me." I reply as the two of us get up off the sofa and head into the kitchen 

We take out the flour and sugar and all the other ingredients. "Okay lets make sure we have everything we need." Val says holding the recepie in her hands. "Okay lets see. 2 and 1/4 cups of flour, 1 teaspon of baking soda, 2 sticks of soft butter, 3/4 of a cup of white sugar, 3/4 of a cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspon of vanilla extract, 2 eggs, and 2 cups of chocolate chips. Do we have eveything?" "Um we don't have any baking soda or brown sugar." I say to Val," Let me go get them at the store." "No you stay here I'll go and get them." Val says as she grabs the car keys and her rain jacket, heading out the door. 

I was left in slience. The only noise was the rain as it hit the pavement outside. I walked up the stairs to use the bathroom. Once I got to the top I heard someone singing. It was a beautiful song. "And I know I shouldn't tell you but I just can't stop thinking of you." The song went, I contined to listen  "Everynight I almost called you just to say it always will be you." It was coming from Luke's room. I slowly walked over to his door.

I placed my hand on the knob and began to turn it slowly. I opened the door just a crack and peeked in. He had his back to the door so he couldn't see me. He was playing his guitar as he continued to sing. I opened the door more and snuck into the room closing it behind me. Luke had no idea I was listening to him sing right behond him in his own room. The song was so beautiful. He finish playing. I could tell that he was starting to cry. I hated seeing him upset. But what was he upset about.
