Jaylee's POV
I looked around the living room and kitchen as Zayn and I sat in complete silence, wondering where everyone else went. No one else was coming in the room to check up on us or grab a bite to eat. It was strange, but I liked the feeling of only needing to deal with one of these backstabbers. I glanced over at Zayn as he stared at the tv, lost in thought while I began to ponder over how I could possibly get out of this house.
I just need the car keys and a chance to get out of here within a whole minute. I needed to find a way to distract Zayn so that I could easily get up and hop out of here. I then looked around, wondering exactly what I could get away with before I peered back at him.
"I'm hungry." I said bluntly before Zayn instantly shifted his eyes towards me.
He raised his eyebrows as his eyes slightly widened, surprised I even spoke. "You are? Oh- w-what do you want?" He asked shyly as he rubbed his sweaty palms against his black jeans.
"Something warm..... maybe like chicken and rice with some avocado." I spoke specifically, knowing it would give me a good head start if no one ruined this plan.
"Okay. Of course. Anything else?" He asked before he instantly stood up, still keeping his eyes focused on me.
"That'll be all." I said dryly before I looked back at the tv, pretending I wasn't interested in our conversation.
"Okay I'll make that for you." He nodded before he quickly walked towards the kitchen and began grabbing everything he needed.
I then immediately looked over towards the hallway, making sure no one was walking through there before I stared at the front door. I then began to feel my heart race as I realized how hard it was going to be to open the door without Zayn hearing or seeing it.
Could I make it? Or would I blow my chances and risk getting abused? I didn't know but I needed to do it before I lose my mind.
I then slowly got down on the massive carpet, knowing well enough I wouldn't be able to walk or hop my way around. I began crawling around the living room army style, being as still and quiet as I could. I didn't want to draw any attention so I needed to be as invisible as possible.
My heart was pounding in ways I've never felt before as I made my way around the couches and chairs, freezing every time I heard Zayn shift around the kitchen. I looked around the walls, remembering that they hung their car keys on a post as I kept crawling towards the door.
As soon as I was close enough to them, I looked upward and saw the keys dangling above me. I then grabbed the nearest chair and used it to pull myself up, checking around to make sure no one was seeing this. I slowly propped myself up before I looked over the counter, noticing Zayn's back was facing me.
Before I gave him the chance to turn around, I gently reached for the keys and wrapped my hand around the entire set, clamping it tightly. I quickly pulled my hand back down before I looked at Zayn again, moving backwards towards the door slowly.
I was grateful that Zayn was now intimidated by me and felt embarrassed because it made him more shy around me. If he wasn't the way he was he would of kept turning around to make sure I was still there. But I made it awkward and uncomfortable for us both so that he wouldn't even think of looking over at me.
As soon as I got close enough to the door, I slowly propped myself up before I unlocked the knob as quietly as I could. My heart was beating against my lungs as I twisted it, feeling like it was taking a lifetime to finish.
I kept my eyes on Zayn the entire time I unlocked the door, making sure he wasn't going to turn around to see this. Suddenly I heard footsteps walking down the hall, making my eyes expand before I turned to see who was coming. I didn't want to waste anymore time, because I knew something bad could come out of this. So I decided to just run and never look back.
