Building a Fort

Today was my first day as an assistant animator. I woke up at 6:30 to get dolled up. I wanna make a good first impression after all. I had a shower as usual. Dried my hair and pulled it into a simple messy side braid. Polished but causal. I chose out a white sleeveless shirt with rose gold buttons, a red flannel, dark navy jeans and my white converse. I applied concealer, foundation, mascara, liquid eyeliner, a dark berry lipstick and bronzer. Gurllll. My contouring was on fleek. I then sat down with some leftover fruit salad. Watched some spongebob. Then grabbed my ready packed satchel, (a notebook, sketching pencils, pastels and my MacBook Air.) my phone and my car keys and ran out the door. I plugged the aux cord into my phone and started my playlist of fun songs.

I arrived at the official animation studio 15 minutes early. So, I checked my makeup in the mirror, applied a second coat of mascara and smiled at the text from Caleb this morning. 'Hey babe, good luck for your first day! Live ya, bye. xxx' 'Hello, Miss Smiley!' Will welcomed me. He looked smart with his wild hair quiffed back and a suit of different shades of blue. But he added a quirky twist with a Mickey Mouse tie. 'I'll lead you to your office.' He said, smiling as he took me through rooms. At my desk, there was an animation computer, endless art tools, an exacto knife and a drawer full to the brim with sketching paper. 'We developed your characters, and here's the finished product!' Will said as he showed me Dan and Phil's characters in a short clip. 'They look so good!' I said, blushing with pride. 'Well, we're starting to animate a new Disney
Princess movie about a Hawaiian girl called Moana.' Will started. 'And we would like to challenge you to create the main character Moana.' 'I will certainly give it my best!' I screamed excitedly as I reached for a no.2 pencil and a couple sheets of paper. Will laughed, patted my shoulder and walked off to his office.

I tried out a couple different sketches. I went from light to tan skin. Brown to black. In braids to curly. My final sketch was a young looking tan skinned girl with long, black curly hair and long eyelashes. I accessorised with a pink blossom flower crown and paired it with a dark pink towel dress. It's exactly how I would imagine a Hawaiian princess. I showed Will it and he gazed at the final design in awe. 'You have a gift...it's incredible!' 'Thanks.' I blushed, pleased. 'Well, that's all your work for today, and I'd like to give you this before you leave.' Will said as he handed me a Disney Animations baseball cap, T-shirt and hoodie. 'Love it!' I screamed as I said goodbye and headed to the car.

When I got home, I stepped in through the front door with my cozy new hoodie on. Everything was quiet. I slowly opened the living room door and almost peed myself. 'SUPRISE!' Everyone screamed in the living room as au stepped in. They were surrounded with Disney movies, Lipton iced tea and a Chinese take out. 'We thought we would treat you after your first day.' 'Awwww!' I said as I grabbed some plates and cutlery from the kitchen and sat down on the couch. We dug into our food and put on the first Disney movie, which happened to be my favourite. Beauty and the Beast. We sang along, giggling as we are and drank. 'Oh, by the way guys.' I said as Dan paused the movie, 'I am creating the main character for a new Disney movie!' 'Oh my god!' They all screamed. Squishing me into a group hug. I went into my bedroom, changed into my new Disney baggy T-shirt and pyjama shorts and pulled my hair out to reveal bouncy curls.

Suddenly, I had a great idea. I grabbed every single duvet, blanket and pillow I could find, pulled them into the living room and screamed 'LETS BUILD A FORT!' They all jumped up in excitement and started pulling blankets over the sofas. Once the base was down, we climbed under and positioned pillows to make it cozy. We them snuggled down with my laptop. Watched some YouTube and fell asleep in our little den.
