Answers. I see nothing but fog and shadows as me and Yia Yia sit on the cell together, waiting for the ax to fall down on us. When Evangeline saunters with a young man, Yia Yia’s eyes widen and she looks like she’s about to cry.

I stare at Evangeline who stares at the guards and when one of them is about to whistle, the young man chokes the guard, causing the guard to pass out. Evangeline falters, her image flickering and when I see the Blessed queen sigh, I nearly cry tears of joy. She came for me? I couldn’t believe it.

“By the stars, Magelion... don’t kill him,” the other guy in question changes his glamour and goddess, I just met the most handsome god ever. His deep violet eyes and chiseled face looks like a perfect sculpture and his wavy dark brown hair looks like he just took a shower. Yia Yia chokes on her saliva and runs for the bars.

“Magelion, my dear is that you?” He looks at her and puts a hand over his mouth surprised. Eris opens the door and ushers us out.

“Magelion, no time for family reunions.”

Wait, they’re related? This old crone is related to this person of perfection? Eris glances at me and glares at me.

“I see you’re still alive.” I quickly bow down to her and her metal claws scrape my face in an almost nurturing gesture.

“Me coming for both of you doesn’t mean you’re forgiven entirely, Estella. Now, let’s go before-”

“Before what, sugar pie? Before I catch you escaping with my prisoners?” The real Evangeline saunters down the prison room, with two huge wolves by her side and Eris doesn’t waver, standing in front of us and Magelion stands next to her.

“Hi, traitor. It’s been forever,” Eris says sweetly, flashing her teeth like a queen about to eat dinner. She waves with her metal claws and I shiver next to Yia Yia, who looks ready to fight.

“Well, hello Eris. Are you still slumming it with the fake darkness style? It looks so cheap on you,” Evangeline retorts and Eris flashes her claws against the fire torch and they glisten, causing one of the wolves to growl at her.

“You aren’t doing much better than me if you’re just planning to use wolves to stop me,” she walks forward and taps her legendary staff Emira, causing the staff to expand and as she whirls it to attack Evangeline, she uses her fire, a deep red to fight back. Eris dodges it and her wings expand, causing her to grab Evangeline and she throws her across the dungeons. Evangeline sends her wolves and Yia Yia beats one of the wolves with her dragon cane and Magelion grabs my hand and pulls me behind him.

“Stay here.” I shove him out of the way, summoning my fire to attack the wolf coming towards us and it shifts into one of the guards and I gulp when instead of meeting teeth, I meet an iron blade.

I dodge it and grab one of the fire torches, throwing it to the guard who passes out. Magelion is fighting with the rest of the guards, summoning thunderclouds big enough to soak our fire. I glare at him and I begin to run as fast as I can, the guards turning into wolves to attack me. I start running in when a pair of red feathers grab me. I look up and find Scarlet grinning at me and my face gets pale.

She whistles to Evangeline and she tries to stab Eris, but she flies away. Yia Yia strikes at Evangeline and when the second pair of red feathers appear, Jamie pushes Evangeline and looks at his sister in disbelief holding me.

“Scar… is that you?” Scarlet sneers at him and rolls her eyes.

“Working with Eris, aren’t you?”

“I didn’t even know she’d be here… I promise you,” he says, moving slow towards me.

“You serve the devil, remember that dear brother. We cause chaos, not order and you know what Eris has done to you,” Jamie shakes his head and smiles at me.
