I admit that despite all of Gianna’s instructions, I still don’t have a clue where we're going.
But fortunately, Tristan did and while walking with him, I hear Leo and Ioannis bickering over Maia and over how they should have gone back. Zachariah, or Z as everyone calls him prefers to stay silent on the matter and I don’t blame him since he was probably worried for his sister. We had found them while walking and now, we had more passengers onto this crazy ride. The three of them combined though, were only giving me a headache.
“You slept with Jamie?” Ioannis asks Z and when I turn around to see him nod, I grab the guy’s shoulders and shake him.
“You actually convinced him for a night?” he nods slowly and I let go, seemingly surprised about the revelation. Jamie Thorne is a player at heart. But he never settled to actually attach himself to anyone and much less with a mortal. Which made the revelation all the more surprising.
“I don’t get why you’re all surprised about it,” he says and Leo bursts out laughing, clapping him on the back.
“Because the guy has an unbreakable ego and I never thought he’d take you seriously but the guy killed Ian for you… so that screams ‘I love you’ in like, every language possible,” he tells us and Ioannis smiles at the exchange.
“Guys, it’s not that serious. We were talking, then he kissed me and the rest is history,” Z finishes and when the guys keep pestering for more details, I walk up towards Tristan and he smiles at me.
“Isn’t it just fun to hear mortals talk about their lives as if the world wasn’t ending soon?” I start laughing and he gives me a look.
“Jamie slept with Zachariah and even killed a bandit in his name. I’d say the executioner has changed quite a bit,”
“Magelion, he’s always been a killer.”
“Well, yeah. But he wasn’t attached to people. Leo says that as soon as the bandit started insulting Z, he just launched a fire spear at him and killed him. Without thinking and if you ask me, that’s some hardcore loyalty starting to take place,”
“Thank the goddess if that guy actually gets to ground him into one place because all his flying around always annoyed me.”
“Do you think Maia is okay?” I ask him and he sighs, sounding exasperated with me. I don’t blame him since I had been pestering him for most of the trip on the topic of whether or not he was Maia’s father.
“Look, Magelion. I know Maia. She will make it out of that mess and both Jamie and Eris will take care of her. Don’t worry about it,” I nod and we keep walking.
Once we reach the port city of Valenze, I smile enjoying the fresh air and find Yia Yia waving her cane. I walk up to her and give her a hug while Ioannis stays away from her and Leo glares at her. Z just waves at her from a distance and she smiles at Tristan.
“Well, the captain of the guard certainly never changed,” she winks at him and Tristan exchanges a couple of words before she wraps me in a hug. It was weird, knowing that behind the old lady was an actual goddess stuck inside an older body and especially considering the fact that this old lady led a clan of thieves and beat a part of the quest nearly to death.
“Well, I promised I’d be here. My eyes say that Evangeline was killed. I took a look at the corpse and let’s just say the Blessed queen took her opportunity to avenge those lost. Personally, I’m glad for that. Sanderran is recollecting himself elsewhere and Lida was seen with him. You guys have everything so we can head to the vault once the festivities of Julemas begin.”
