Once I open my eyes, Jamie smirks at me, looking at me with new eyes.

“Wake up, sleeping beauty since that baby won’t feed itself,” Meena punches his shoulder and he glares at her.

“Jamie, do you know how to shut up?” she grits out and I stifle a laugh before I look at Eris who smiles softly and helps me out of the carriage. I didn’t feel any different but as she clutches onto my hands, she gives me a hug.

“Bless your soul and Maia… you’re expecting a baby,” she says softly and I snort at her.

“Yeah, I know. You all kept talking in the carriage but how are you sure of it? It might be because it’s the first time I use the benediction as an extension of my lightning encanta,” Eris shakes her head and smiles.

“Deny it all you want, but soon enough, you will see the change in your body. I know what it’s like because I conceived Estella like you did.”

“Then why did she die? Why was she born with mortal blood?”

“That’s where you’re wrong my dear. I am a siren as well. My siren blood is mortal and it overpowers my divinity as moon goddess so she was born with my powers, but with my mortality as well. I cannot live forever like you do, your majesty.” she amends and I glance at her and her claws and shiver. The blood is tarnishing her claws and she smiles at me softly.

“It’s a short walk to where Leo and the rest are. We head to the vault tomorrow according to Tristan.”

“What did you mean when Alaia was able to conceive? Who was her lover?” she grabs my shoulders and whispers in my ear.

“I think you know the answer to that my dear.” she stalks away from me and I ponder over her until I gasp. There were only two guys that were close to her. Karidas and Tristan. If it was the former, then it meant that me and Magelion were half-siblings… but what if it was Tristan?

“The guard always won her heart. Simplicity over intelligence they say,” Eris yells out and I nod quietly. Tristan was my father. That was why he let me train with a sword. Why he checked up on me constantly. Why he always looked over us as if we were his biggest treasures. Because we were his family.

Meena walks with me and as Jamie chats quietly with Eris, she smiles at me.

“Do you think Jamie truly loves my brother? I don’t want him to use Z as a play toy or anything like that. Z has had enough bad luck in love,” I glance at her tears falling and I brush them away, wrapping her in a hug.

“Meena, don’t say that. J-Jamie isn’t that cruel. He is self-serving and egotistical sometimes and he usually does whatever he pleases like Eris… but they’re good people and I know that maybe your brother is the one for him.” She seems satisfied by my answer and stays silent for the rest of the walk and when Tristan greets Eris and Jamie, he falters when he sees me and I walk up to him slowly as if doubting my judgement.

“Why did you teach me to fight and to use a sword?”

“Because I always wanted my daughter to stand out among the other goddesses,” he says and when I hug him, the tears falling from my eyes, he cries too and we hold each other, father and daughter reuniting for what seemed the first time in forever. I never knew that he was my dad, but now I know I can count on him to help me out.

“Magelion and Leo are upstairs. They’ll be glad to see you.” I enter the boisterous inn full of music and notice the pine garlands hanging from the inn as people drink and eat lots of food, celebrating as if the world wasn’t ending anytime soon.
