4: Meeting my "Rival"

Hinata's POV

Me and Kageyama were walking home. We had an awkward silence, and I had to think of something.

"So when are you going to confess your love for her?"

I felt pain behind my words. Knowing those 2 are going to end up together.

"Um, well we only got to know each other for about a month, and I want to take this slow, since apparently her last relationship wasn't that good." He rubbed the back of his head.

"Wow, you do really simp for her!" I laugh.

"Yeah, but before I do, you should get to know her too."

"Heh, wait what?"

I look at Kageyama shocked. He wants me to know his future girlfriend? I don't even know how to get to know her or how to act around her!?

"Uhhh, that would be cool!" I fake smiled "But how am I doing to "get to know her"?".

"Well, I mentioned you in one of my conversations with her, and she thinks you're cool, so maybe on sunday?"

I stare at him in disbelief. That soon?

"Yeah, that would be cool! Great! Awesome!" I put my thumbs up.

"Um yeah, you are acting weird. Please do not act like that in front of her. I don't want her to know that I'm friends with idiots like you!"

For some reason, those words actually hurt me. It was not like the times when he called me a dumbass, but it actually stabbed me right in the chest.

"Wow, you didn't have to be so rude!" I fake laughed. "Well, see yea later!"

Right away I got on my bike and rode away. As I was riding I looked down trying to hold in my tears. Why did that insult hurt me that badly... I haven't cried like this in days, why now!

It was Sunday, and Kageyama texted me that we would all meet at the park.

I took my bike and rode there. When i arrive, I already see Erika and Kageyama talking to each other. I grit my teeth in response, but I walked up to them pretending I just got there.

"Hello! I'm Hinata!" I smiled

"Hello, I'm Erika!" She smiled back. "You don't have to be formal towards me! I've seen you before and I always wanted to be your friend, so just act as you wish!"

"Well you 2 can get to know each other, I need to go to the restroom" Kageyama said.

"So Hinata, I heard you play volleyball with Kageyama and you are a middle blocker?" She asks.

"Um yeah! Well the only things I know about you is that you are very helpful in school." I laugh nervously.

"Well yeah, because to be honest I just want to be on the good side with people!" She laughs. "Don't tell Kageyama that, he thinks I do it because I'm just that nice."

"Oh, well why did you tell me that?"

"Well, after how much Kageyama talks about you, you seem trustworthy!" She smiles. "And i want to tell you my intentions with Kageyama, since I want to know if his best friend would approve."

Intentions? What does she mean by that?

"Well as you know, me and Kageyama are now very close, and I want you to know that I like him..." she looked flustered. "But there are many things blocking me and him from being together."

She glares at me, but then smiles.

"I want you to stop him from going to volleyball practice."
