Chapter 5: Wolf

I wait impatiently, waiting for the netscreen to light up again with a request icon from Winter flashing on the currently empty screen.

I start tapping my foot against the floor, and my fingers started tapping my crossed arms. Cinder notices.

"Hey Wolf," she comforted me, "You'll see Scarlet again. Don't worry." She gives me a comforting smile.

"It's not that that I'm worried about," I mutters, "I'm concerned for her condition." There's a long pause. I can feel the tension between me and the others, as if one wrong move can set me off.

"Don't worry, we are all concerned for her," says Cinder.

Just then, a beep came from the netscreen. It's a comm. From Winter. I feel frantic. I quickly say accept, and watch the circle spiral round and round, telling me to wait for us to get connect. The others slowly crowd around me.

Finally, someone appears on the netscreen. My eyes widen with excitement. To my disappointment, it isn't Scarlet. I feel my face droop. It soon got replaced by a furious sneer.

"Where's Scarlet?" I command with as much hate I could muster.

"Wolf calm down, she's right here," Winter says. She then aims the portscreen's camera at a figure lying on a cage floor. I hear everyone gasp behind me.

It's Scarlet. She looks terrible. Her hair is all ragged, I couldn't even make out her curls. And her skin and clothes were covered in a thin layer of dirt and grime.

"When was the last time-"

"Wolf, calm down, this is the best I could manage for her," sympathizes Winter. "My stepmother wouldn't allow such care for our prisoners."

I vouch that Levana will get paid for what she put Scarlet and me through. Then I heard a cough come from Scarlet.

"Winter...is that you?" Scarlet asks feebly. She squints.

"Yes, and I brought a surprise for you." She gives Scarlet her portscreen and I finally got to see her beautiful face again. She gave a hopeful smile and said, "Wolf." She said my name with all the longing in this world.

That single word can keep me going for miles, just to hear her say my name again. "Scarlet," I say back to her.

I felt passion and longing. Right now, at this moment, we were the only two people in the world, me staring at her and her staring at me, with all the love in the world.

And thus, Wolfie Jr. was born. Nah, I'm just playing with ya guys. Or am I...(; Anyway, I'm sure you are all wondering why i haven't posted in well over a week. It's because I've been busy with a lot of schoolwork. I had a presentation, and a paper due, a test, and there's another test this week, and somewhere in between there was the Oscars involved. It was just straight havoc this past week. But, the moment you've all have been waiting for, drumroll please...WOLF AND SCARLET ARE FINALLY UNITED!-----ish. And sorry danny1princess, I know you wanted this chapter to be in Kai's POV, but I really wanted to write this chapter because it's all so gushy! AND FUN!!! But I promise next chapter it will be in Kai's POV. But hey, at least you got a shoutout! And I don't know if you've noticed but this chapter's a teensy bit detailed, just to reel in those votes you know! But seriously...vote for this story.
