It's been a couple days now and David was still fighting with the boys over me, Marko especially. I just stayed beside Star and Laddie through most of it now. The boys hadn't let me out of their sights since. And I'm really started to miss Sam and The frog brothers.
"You know you'll have to do something with her now, you knew this was coming!" I heard David shout again at Marko. I wanted to scream and defend Marko too but I was all so terrified to do so. Laddie tried hugging me but I just didn't want him to see me like this. "Come on Mari, you'll be alright." It really surprised me that this little boy that seemed so loving was a killer. "I hope so, Laddie." I muttered, accepting his small arms to wrap around my neck. He was like a little brother to me.
"David, she won't do anything. You can't hurt her, not now, shes been through a lot." I heard Star, now stepping into the argument. "Amaris!" David yelled after me, sounding a little more calm, but I was unsure. Laddie let go and instantly met my eyes. He could defiantly see the horror in them. "Amaris!" He yelled again, getting impatient. I got up from the bed and walked quickly to the couch where they all were. I trembled, not only in fear, but I was rather cold. "Come here, child." David called to me. I stepped toward him. My heart beating faster. "There's many ways to become one of us, I'm pretty sure you've found that out yourself." He explained. I nodded my head, still completely horrified. I looked for Marko's eyes, and instantly found their warm, but cold, comfort. "Well, I wanna do this, the painful way." David said a loud, right before I was already held in his arms and his sharp fangs in my flesh. I heard Marko scream first as I was tossed around. They tried to get David off of me. I was too petrified to move, but I still felt the pain. My whole body crashed to the ground as it was fully giving up on me. I heard the screams of the boys trying to keep David back. Marko instantly rushed to my side. Pain electrocuted through my entire body. "You're gonna be okay, I promise." His voice faded away like a faint whisper. My mortal body had died in its sleep.
I remember the tears, the cold tears that shredded on my face as Marko just kept carrying me. His tears wanted me to hold him so tightly but my body wouldn't let me. He shoed off Star and the other boys as he kept walking. "You killed her!" He screamed at David. "You killed the only thing that saw life in the undead." He yelled again. Marko was completely full of rage that never had gotten to surface because he was always in the background. "Marko, I-" David tried speaking. "Shut up!" He ran off again.
He laid my body on softening grass as he started to dig a hole on the beach. It wasn't as near the water so the ocean wouldn't bother my mortal body. He seemed to take the anger and depression out on the sand as he dug deeper and deeper by seconds. After getting a good enough hole he picked up my dead body, like he would've done with the live one. But instead of a smile I felt tears, and instead of him hearing my heartbeat, he felt nothing. Which seemed to pain him even more. "Soon, my love, we'll be together." he placed me in the deep hole and started to cover me up. Of course, he had to hurry because the sunlight was only about an hour away.
I dreamed that night of Marko and I walking on the beach at sunset. We danced around like we were still mortal again. I felt his heart beat and saw the tan color to his skin. But, when I wake up, If I ever, he'd only have his pale skin. In my lovely dream we ate real food like pasta and bread, we swam in the water and he picked me up and twirled around. We were even found at the boardwalk, in the beautiful, brightening sunlight, walking around with cotton candy. Nothing to worry about. No David, no vampirism and of course, nothing to hide. But sadly, my dream wasn't reality, and never will be.
Marko might've buried me deep but I still felt the warm sun and the pitter patter of feet running towards the beach. My eyes were still closed, my hair and knots and all I wanted was to get up and go see Marko, but my body wouldn't wake up. Maybe, because of the sun was still brightening the sky and maybe because my body was still preparing. I could already feel my skin start to tingle.
The time was now, when the dead awaken and the moon starts to rise. The time for me was now. I felt my arms being able to move now and I swam through the thick sand. Nearly choking but I found my way into the moon lit night. I took my first immortal breath and I then opened my eyes. They looked all around trying to get used to the intensity now. I could see things that I couldn't see before, it was so unreal. I could see every individual speck of sand, I could see the trees for miles and my ears, I could hear a butterfly flutter through the air from miles away. I could defiantly smell the fresh blood of humans from the boardwalk. I licked my new sharp fangs and realized that I was quite hungry.
I also came to realize that I didn't smell my boys anywhere. Did they abandon me? I was already bored and I needed to find an easy human fast. I looked around at the various people and tried to keep my hungry instincts to myself, that's when I noticed some boy about my age all alone. "Hey." I smiled sweetly at him. He instantly looked up and smirked and looked me over. "Woah, hey." He licked his lips. I looked deep in his hazel eyes and brushed passed him as I began to walk towards the darkened end of the boardwalk, where no one was. "Where you going?" He laughed, trying to keep up. "No where, I'm just kind of hungry." I muttered, appearing right next to him. He was taken aback but then got his cool back. "Well, what do you want to eat?" He smiled at me. I giggled, quite evilly and pushed him slightly on a bench nearby. I straddled his lap and instantly started kissing any where on his face. Even though, I would want to kiss Marko, I had to seduce to feed.
His skin was soft and warm, just like mine when I was human. It almost made me not want to kill him but my thirst had gotten worse by the second. I reached his neck and kissed on it lightly. His heart pulsed. My felt my fangs appear and I took a bite. He screamed and held my legs tighter. I felt his heart beat faster. I heard another person scream as I was almost done drinking him. "Shit." I muttered as I saw a blonde girl screaming in horror, I had to shut her up so I was already on top of her in a split second, sucking her blood dry. I wiped my mouth as stood up to see that she was wearing a beautiful vintage cream colored dress. It was long and a little frilly with lace covered in it. I wanted it, just like I wanted their blood. I pulled her corpse into the shadows and slipped off her dress and replaces my old and rather gross clothes with the dress. I took out my sunglasses and headed towards the crowds. I felt completely wonderful and fulfilled.
I made my way towards my home, I missed my boys.
