Walking for days was actually tiring. I don't think that my legs or my mind could take on this journey to no where for much longer. My parents were both runaway hippies who decided to leave me behind. I didn't have anywhere to go so I just kept walking.

That's when I started to smell the fresh ocean air and a small sense of death but it still smelled beautiful. I looked up only to see a sign that was only a few yards away and it read "Santa Carla." From what I could see there was a lot of people already here but I could make camp somewhere or maybe find a family of my own. This place sounded so familiar and I just couldn't place it. I adjusted my small bag on my shoulder, which ached terribly and continued walking forth, to Santa Carla. A baby blue van passed by that was playing The Doors. Lovely.

I was at the sign and I looked around and saw all the people and the beautiful ocean that seemed to surround the entrance of Santa Carla. Every step, was a even more clear scent of that wonderful smell of food, ocean and of course the death, but I still don't know what that's about.

Getting more into town I saw a few people digging around in the trash. They remembered me of myself since I was kinda of enforced to do that as well, so I wouldn't starve. They both had dark hair and one was a girl and the other one was a guy. "Hey, find anything good?" I asked, giving them both a friendly smile. I'm pretty sure they both think that I was making fun of them or something but once they got a good look at me they knew that I was one of them. They both smiled and welcomed me into their hunt. Some blonde hair kid with a dog came over. "Here I have some money for you guys, for food." The blonde said and handed it over to the girl with the black hair. We all smiled. He looked over me though and smiled slightly, like he felt bad. "Thank you." We muttered and gotten out of the garbage. "Here, he gave us twenty so you take half and we'll take the other." The dark haired girl said and handed over ten. I nodded a thank you and walked off to get a sandwich or something. Thank god for the blonde kid.

Walking around I realized how colorful and wonderful this place really is. All of the various people, running around laughing and smiling, it brought a light into my eyes and I had a more positive way of thinking at this very moment. I stumbled upon a boardwalk which shown bright lights, even in mid day light, and many rides, shops, and booths. I walked in and found a small cart which sold popcorn. Luckily it was only 50 cents so this ten dollars would last me awhile. But, maybe I could find a job to get more money. I thanked the girl who was selling the popcorn and instantly started eating it. I haven't eaten in literally forever and I've been sick for a while. The food really helped.

I found myself a bathroom and gotten my hairbrush from my bag and pulled my hair back into a low ponytail. I cleaned my face and my arms and headed back out into the world. I thought it was wonderful. And if a beaten down, low self esteem and poor girl finds this place beautiful and then any one can.

It started to get darker and a slight bit colder as I roamed around a bit more. A lot of people looked at me strange because I was alone. The people here seemed to be around in groups and stayed together. Maybe because of all the missing people posters that seemed to be everywhere. Or maybe because of the way I dressed like a hippie and everyone else dressed in brightly colored shirts and the girls in high waisted shorts. My parents stayed in the hippie era when they had me. My mom had given me a long short-sleeved tie dye dress covered in aquamarine, dark purple, and a shade of black. I was wearing this right now and a lot of people seemed to eye me of it. That's when I saw her, a girl, about my age, with wildly curly light brown hair in a sparkly long skirt and a white top. She also had a boy at her side which I heard her call him 'Laddie' and pick him up and they both continued to walk around. I wanted to stop her and talk to her. Maybe, make a friend so I wouldn't be alone. She was beautiful. I ran passed and pushed passed some people to catch up to her. But, myself stopped at a comic book store. I was defiantly a sucker for comic books. My eyes took it all in as I made my way inside the store. I stood in awe. Maybe Ill catch up with wild hair and Laddie later.

I looked around the store and noticed two guys with dark hair talking to the blonde haired guy that gave me money earlier. I decided to listen closer on their conversation. "Notice anything unusual, about Santa Carla yet?" The littler guy asked the blonde kid. "Nah, it's a pretty cool place, if you're a martian." The blonde grinned. His statement made me giggle. "Or a vampire." The taller one with the bandana said. That's when I stepped up right next to the blonde kid and looked at the other two guys. They all seemed shocked. "You guys sniffing old news prints or something?" I joked and slowly walked away. The blonde kid laughed and the others groaned, not seeming very pleased. "Hey, what's your name?" The blonde kid said from behind me. I turned around to face him. "Amaris, yours?" I smirked. "Sam." He smirked right back. I walked up to the others guys who were only about two steps away. "And what about you guys?" I asked. "Edgar and Alan, the Frog brothers." They both said in unison. "So these vampires, what do you know about them?" I asked trying to spark a conversation. "You must be new, so is Sam." Alan announced. "Yeah, I just got here today." I explained turning to Sam. "I just got here yesterday." Sam said. "Well, must be my lucky day." I smirked and started to walk off into the night, back on the boardwalk. Sam ran over. "What's your last name, Sam?" I asked randomly. "Emerson, yours?" "Lucas, ill see you around Emerson." I said lastly. "You too Lucas." he called to me. I smirked, I think I just made some new friends.

It started to get darker and I started to get more tired. I needed to find a place somewhere to sleep, like behind a building or something. Luckily, I'll always have my blanket in my bag to keep me warm. I ran around the boardwalk to try and find a vacant and quiet place to rest. A lot of people have left by the time I found a perfect place. It was just another long bridge connected to the boardwalk. I ran behind the second to last building and made a place to sleep in the corner. It was freezing here in Santa Carla at night but ill try to get through it. I had to get through a lot of things.

After an hour of trying to sleep for a couple of hours I just couldn't seem to even shut my eyes. The cold air was really getting to me but I also heard voices off in the distance that seemed to get closer. I slowly curled up into a tight ball, almost like to protect myself in a way. Like there was something out there in the silence. Another soft voice called to me. Maybe it was my lack of sleep or maybe I was really hearing the voice. It was horrifying but calming. It was killing me. "Amaris." It called like it was right next to my ear, which made me jump up in fear and curl back into the corner. I didn't have any defense. I could die. Or maybe I'm going insane but that's when I looked up to see a form of four figures standing there looking down at me. I was too tired to fight back as one of them lifted me up over their shoulder and carried me off into the distance. The other three were behind the one that was carrying me. They were smirking. Or maybe I was dreaming.
