The Key To Everything(Part 1)

It is now 4:55PM. The girls are all seated in their seats, anxious to see what happens next. They had to wait 5 more minutes until they could approach the glowing device in the middle of the room. None of the girls said anything, until Minji suddenly asked a question, hoping to lighten the atmosphere.

"So umm...what are your abilities?"

20 minutes earlier...

"How did BoA eonnie even know that we would both be free today, at this time?"

Enjoying the fresh, pure air away from the city, Handong sat in the front passenger seat next to Minji, who was currently trying to figure out where in the world they were going.

"Speak for yourself Dongie. I had to reschedule 2 appointments and have other people fill in for any emergency visits. Normally you would be busy right now too. You're just lucky today."

"Why would BoA eonnie want us to go into the suburbs? From the way she described things, we may have to use our abilities. She was really vague about it though."

"Exactly. Compared to the usual briefings she gives us, this one was so short. Just 'Show up at 4:45 and meet with other parties to negotiate a deal, should be 3-5 others. Wear your full face masks and take care not to reveal your identity. As for the deal, go by the terms you think are best. Find the goods in the basement. Stay past 5PM.' That's why I'm so worried. She isn't usually the type to be so vague. Something is definitely up, and she's not telling us about it."

"I'll handle the negotiations part, you be the muscle. They'll listen to me easier than they will you. Do you need to stop somewhere secluded along the road and talk to the local animals? We're not close enough to the location for me to sense any human emotions. All I'm picking up right now are the emotions of various animals, and to be honest, it's giving me a headache. I would feel safer if we had some backup in case things got dicey. I could always partially heal the animals afterwards, and you could treat them in the more literal sense with medicine."

Pausing for the first time since she started driving, Minji stopped the car and got out, making sure there was nobody else around besides Handong. 

"Do you have any peanuts, Dongie? Dried and unsalted berries will do as well. Maybe sunflower seeds?"

"What do you even need it f-Oh! Oh, ok I gotcha covered. Here, I have this packet of sunflower seeds in the glove compartment."

"These technically aren't the best food option for the squirrels, but I can give it to them in small amounts. I just need something to offer them."

Walking a slight bit further up the road, Minji poured a small handful of the unsalted sunflower seeds into her hand and crouched down, bringing her body closer to the earth. Following suit, Handong also left the car but stood a fair distance away, hoping not to interfere with whatever Minji was going to do. 

A series of brief and high-pitched squeaking noises left Minji's mouth. Within seconds, around a dozen blaze black and dark brown squirrels scurried down from the trees in all directions, surrounding Minji entirely.

Meanwhile, Handong just stood still, amazed at the events happening before her very eyes. Although she's seen this happen a handful of times before, Handong thoroughly enjoyed each time she watched Minji get along with the animals. There was one time when things did not go well with a particularly sassy street cat, but other than that, Handong considered Minji  the best human to animal diplomat in existence.
